Job Summary

Summary

If selected youll serve as a Systems Administrator Level I within the Office of Information Resources Management (IRM) performing a variety of duties involving the support and administration of the agencys Microsoft cloud and enterprise computing environment. This work involves configuration and maintenance of Microsoft O365 services Microsoft Entra ID Microsoft Azure cloud services Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender under the guidance of senior engineer and cloud administrators


Duties
  • The duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as System Administrator to support the day-to-day operations of MSPBs IT systems and peripherals.
  • Assist with user provisioning licensing and service configuration.
  • Troubleshoot user access authentication mailbox and collaboration platform issues.
  • Monitor service health and assist in implementing recommended improvements.
  • Coordinate helpdesk operations including the remediation of system-identified cyber security alerts and known vulnerabilities.
  • Assists in implementing network administration and software system configuration changes or new equipment installation as necessary.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education as defined below.

FOR THE GS-11 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-9 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local county state Federal) sectors which demonstrates:

  • Applying administrative knowledge of Windows desktop operating system Microsoft O365 and Microsoft Azure Cloud Infrastructure to support day-to-day IT operations.
  • Coordinating disparate IT resources to troubleshoot and resolve user and administrative IT problems.
  • Utilizing IT Service Management Cloud and endpoint security Cloud backup Cloud VPN Teams telephony and SDWAN products.
OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science engineering information science information systems management mathematics operations research statistics or technology management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
