Deer Park School District is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to help maintain safe comfortable and efficient learning environments for our students and staff.

General Statement of Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Technician performs skilled maintenance repair installation and preventive maintenance on district facilities and equipment. Primary responsibilities include HVAC refrigeration electrical mechanical plumbing and building automation systems while ensuring facilities operate safely and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
  3. Valid Washington State Drivers License.
  4. HVAC electrical mechanical plumbing and building maintenance experience.
  5. Minimum five (5) years of experience in commercial industrial institutional or school facility maintenance.
  6. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently.
  8. Strong verbal written and computer communication skills.
  9. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff students contractors vendors and the public.

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Washington State Drivers License
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification (Type I & II)
  • Boiler Certification or equivalent experience as required or ability to obtain within first 180 days

Preferred

  • Washington State Journeyman Electrician License
  • Washington State Specialty Electrician License
  • Automated Logic Controls (ALC) experience
  • Direct Digital Controls (DDC) experience
  • Natural Gas Installation License
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Essential Job Responsibilities

HVAC and Building Automation

  • Install maintain troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment including boilers chillers heat pumps fan coils pumps cooling towers refrigeration equipment and associated controls.
  • Maintain Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and building automation systems including Automated Logic (preferred).
  • Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.

General Maintenance

  • Perform plumbing carpentry drywall painting flooring welding (preferred) and equipment repairs.
  • Repair doors locks kitchen equipment laundry equipment and irrigation controls.
  • Safely operate district vehicles lifts trailers tractors and maintenance equipment.
  • Participate in emergency response and on-call duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment and Salary

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Deer Park Public School Employees Association (PSE) and the Policies and Procedures of Deer Park School District.   • Summer Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Winter Schedule: Hours may vary based on operational needs.
  • Work hours may change due to emergencies weather or district operational requirements.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation may be required.

Salary

$35.58-$39.76 per hour (2026-2027). Initial placement is based on applicable experience in accordance with the Public-School Employees (PSE) Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additional compensation may be available as provided in the negotiated agreement.
