GreenSavers is hiring an HVAC Maintenance Technician in Portland. We offer training and hands-on experience to help you learn the trade and explore where you want to go nextwhether thats service work or installation.
ABOUT THE JOB
Youll build your foundation through scheduled maintenance visits at customers homes as part of our Home Performance Plan (HPP). Youll learn the equipment check and maintain systems spot problems and explain your findings to customers. Youll report to the Service Lead and also work alongside our HVAC installation crews when needed from a few hours to several days in a row. That mix gives you experience with both caring for existing systems and putting new ones in.
This is a full-time hourly job with local travel around Portland. Some days may call for a longer shift.
WHAT YOULL DO
- Show up on time for scheduled visits and check and maintain the heating cooling and water-heating equipment covered by each appointment.
- Spot worn parts equipment problems and repairs that may be needed. Let the customer and Production team know what you find.
- Explain repair material or replacement options in plain language so customers understand their choices.
- Write clear accurate notes about each visit including the work completed and any follow-up needed.
- Lend a hand on installations of heat pumps air conditioners furnaces air handlers and water heatersincluding heat pump and tankless modelsand systems that combine this equipment.
- Keep your work vehicle stocked and your tools materials shop and work areas clean safe and organized.
- Let your lead know right away about damaged tools missing supplies or vehicle problems.
- Work safely use the required protective gear and follow company policies schedules and break requirements.
- Treat customers their homes and your coworkers with respect. Join Production meetings and pitch in with other assigned work.
Requirements
- Experience in construction or maintenance or experience using hand and power tools. Bring mechanical curiosity and a willingness to learnwell help you build your HVAC skills.
- The ability to talk with customers explain what you find and answer questions clearly and respectfully.
- A dependable organized approach: show up on time manage your appointments and work well on your own or with a crew. Be ready for occasional longer shifts.
- A valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record plus a commitment to working safely and following company policies.
THE PHYSICAL SIDE OF THE JOB
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
- Stand walk bend kneel crouch and climb ladders for extended periods; safely use hand and power tools.
- Work in customer homes varying weather conditions confined spaces and at heights as needed.
HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED
- HVAC maintenance or installation experience is a plus but you dont need to come in knowing it all.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
