Job Summary

This is a hybrid role. The selected candidate will report to the Arlington VA office three days (Tuesdays-Thursdays) per week.
SUMMARY
The HR Generalist supports the growth and modernization journey of the HR department by working closely with the SVP Human Resources to continue to improve upon existing programs while implementing new programs to support the dynamic needs of an evolving organization.
Responsible for providing comprehensive HR support across the organization ensuring effective implementation of HR policies procedures and programs. The HR Generalist is a versatile and integral member of the HR team supporting the organizations growth via their contributions across a wide variety of HR functions. This role ensures smooth operations and fosters a positive inclusive work environment via daily influence with employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting
  • Supports the overall recruitment and selection process by drafting and placing advertisements scheduling candidate interviews managing candidate correspondence ordering background investigations and conducting reference checks and employment verifications when needed.
Benefits
  • Supports administering payroll and benefits changes; assists with annual benefits open enrollment process by ensuring the accuracy and readiness of the Paycor system and reconciling employee enrollment elections in the Paycor and vendor systems.
  • Supports managing the data connections between benefits providers and Paycor to ensure all enrollments and changes are accurate in the provider system.
  • Administers benefits enrollment with the providers and assists in preparing the benefit providers monthly invoices.
Performance Management / Learning and Development
  • Supports NACD training development and other learning programs to include managing the annual calendar coordinating the training schedule monitoring project plan and follow-up researching and developing frameworks and content and providing additional assistance where needed.
  • Supports performance management process including updating quick reference guides communications and tracking progress.
  • Provides support for calibration by running reports.
  • Generates forms in Paycor (goals midyear yearend) tracks completion and runs reports for analysis. (future state)
  • Manages and implements HR year end performance management calendar.
  • Administers access to LinkedIn Learning and assists in campaigns and utilization reports.
Compensation
  • Assist the SVP and Director in preparing bi-annual compensation benchmarking data. Assist in analyzing the results as part of ensuring pay equity across the organization and addressing pay compression issues.
Administration / Systems
  • Maintains and updates the Employee Handbook as needed. Recommend and implement new policies as appropriate.
  • Effectively lead efforts in maintaining data integrity of Paycor to include the handling of all employee changes: new hires promotions and separations. Seeks opportunities to automate tasks.
  • Assists the HR Director to maintains and update legally mandated postings (i.e. labor law posters EEO statements etc.)
  • Files all appropriate paperwork in employee personnel records. Maintains employee personnel files and records in electronic and paper form.
  • Effectively manage and maintain HR content on the company internal site (OneHub) external careers page and updates NACDs FacePage for new hires and those who have offboarded.
  • Maintains and updates company org charts as necessary.
  • Proactively lead the efforts in responding to HR inquiries via the HR email box or through Teams and assist with answering frequently asked questions related to people processes and policies.
  • Manage and respond to employment verification requests and Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program requests in a timely accurate and confidential manner.
  • Compile and provide required monthly Risk Management information reporting coordinating with the appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure information is accurate.
  • Provides administrative special project support and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with the preparation and/or filing of mandatory reports audits EEO-1 filings and compliance requirements. Maintain knowledge on changing employment laws and regulations.
Employee Experience
  • Assists with new hire on-boarding process including initiating onboarding notifications to appropriate departments communicating with new hires reviewing and processing new hire paperwork ensuring I-9s are verified and all other documentation is received and provide training on Paycor.
  • Ensures the accurate completion of new hire paperwork. Helps to create onboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on HR policies internal procedures and regulations.
  • Engagement surveys assists the Sr. Manager in the distribution of employee surveys. Ability to analyze track and determine trends.
  • Partner with the Sr. Manager to develop and coordinate wellness initiatives and a comprehensive wellness program.
  • Supports the Sr. Manager with NACDs day of service volunteer initiatives.
Maintains confidentiality of all corporate and personnel matters. Assists with all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in human resources business psychology or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of four years of human resources or administrative experience required. Knowledge of employment law and general HR practices are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel). Experience in presenting in small groups and one-on-one settings is desired.
Experience with HRIS systems Paycor knowledge is a plus but not required. Ability to apply knowledge and general principles of HR functions to solve problems and effectively address situations. Must use independent judgment and discretion to determine or recommend best course of action. Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Must be able to interface effectively at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Outstanding attention to detail and follow-up is essential. Ability to be flexible and handle stressful situations is essential. Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to sensitive issues and personnel files/documents is required. Ability to take the initiative on assigned projects/tasks and work with minimal supervision.

The salary/hourly range for this position is$75000-$85000 plus bonus potential. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education work experience certificationsetc.
