Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Georgia Academy for the Blind (GAB) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Housekeeper in Macon Georgia. Under close supervision the Housekeeper maintains a clean safe and sanitary environment throughout assigned facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining buildings furnishings and equipment; stocking supplies in common areas; moving furniture and equipment as needed; and performing general housekeeping duties in accordance with established procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable detail-oriented and committed to providing a clean and welcoming environment for students staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms offices restrooms dormitories common areas and other assigned facilities.
• Sweep mop vacuum dust and maintain floors and other surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and restock supplies as needed.
• Clean windows doors furniture fixtures and other assigned areas.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of custodial supplies and notify the supervisor when replenishment is needed.
• Follow all established safety sanitation and custodial procedures.
• Report maintenance repair or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and campus events as needed.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working around students and staff.
• Lift and move supplies equipment and materials weighing up to 30 pounds or more.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Preferred qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping custodial or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use custodial products and supplies.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position including standing walking bending stooping reaching and lifting.
• Demonstrated reliability dependability and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean safe and professional environment for students staff and visitors.
