HMS Assistant Basketball Coach

Hamilton Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our athletic program as an Assistant Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes skills fostering teamwork and promoting a positive and inclusive environment. This is a seasonal position that requires commitment to the entire basketball season including practices games and team events.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting daily basketball practices and training sessions.
- Help develop game strategies and prepare the team for competitions.
- Provide instruction and feedback to student-athletes to improve their skills and performance.
- Monitor and promote the academic and personal development of team members.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship respect and teamwork.
- Assist in organizing team events including games tournaments and community outreach activities.
- Communicate effectively with athletes and school administration regarding team matters.
- Ensure compliance with all school and district policies as well as relevant league regulations.
- Attend all scheduled practices games and team meetings.
- Support the Head Coach in managing team logistics including equipment and travel arrangements.

Requirements
- Previous coaching experience preferably at the middle school or high school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals strategies and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during the season.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check as required by school district policy.
