About Lumafield:

Lumafield was founded in 2019 to upgrade manufacturing.

We are engineers with deep experience across the product development cycle from initial ideas to shipping hardware across industries and specializations who became frustrated by the cost and complexity of modern manufacturing. So we decided to upgrade it.

Engineers make million-dollar decisions every day and they need tools that give them the greatest possible insight into their products. By offering unprecedented visibility into products as well as AI-driven tools that highlight problems and generate quantitative data Lumafield promises to revolutionize the way complex products are created manufactured and used across industries. We started with industrial CT scanning which for us was the most valuable but underutilized tool in the manufacturing toolbox enabling us to rapidly inspect essential components non-destructively.

We rebuilt the whole system from X-ray capture to computer vision analysis to web-based collaboration to the entire business model making the most advanced manufacturing tech more accessible to every industry. Our company like our platform is designed for upgrades. Were building for greater intelligence autonomy and speed. For deeper vision operational excellence and powerful insights. About the role:

Lumafields scanners produce the data. Voyager is where that data becomes a decision - with nothing but a web browser anyone can visualize analyze and share industrial CT data globally.

Were hiring a Head of Software to own Voyager end-to-end: the software development teams building it and the platform engineering group running the cloud and edge compute underneath. Youll inherit a high-performance team in San Francisco and be tasked with continuously raising the bar. As Lumafield grows youll play a critical role with shaping the org to follow: lead the leaders own high-stake decisions and carry on a culture that never settles.

This is a hands-on leadership role at a company obsessed with finding the right solution for its customers. You set the bar scale the team as the company grows and drive solutions to our hardest problems.

What youll do:

Align technical direction with business objectives and own the outcome: when to take the big bet what to focus on when and how the roadmap distills into priority calls
Drive the technical developments that solve our customers hardest problems from architecture through release
Scale and lead the Platform Engineering function - CI/CD observability edge compute and the cloud cost curve
Hire and develop the leadership layer under you
Set the operating cadence and hold the team to commitment dates that engineering product and sales can plan against
Own the software side of Lumafields security and compliance posture: SBOM vulnerability response customer security reviews and compliance controls

About you:

Youve led multi-level software engineering organizations at a startup including managing managers and youve done it through at least one phase change in company size or product maturity
Youve owned a production SaaS platform end to end: uptime on-call release engineering and the infrastructure bill. You know what your cloud spend is and why
You have real depth in cloud infrastructure and DevOps - deep enough to review a platform design reject a bad one and explain the company-level tradeoff behind the call
You know what it takes to deploy solutions in the cloud and on premises. Performance deltas and reliability are proactive motions not afterthoughts
You define what done means you unblock the team and you are well versed in Radical Candor
You love startups. Youre highly engaged you control the chaos you rally when its crunch time and you love working through ambiguity

Bonus:

Experience with FedRAMP ITAR/CMMC or another regulated deployment environment where the compliance work is on the critical path to revenue.
A background in 3D data imaging visualization or metrology software voxels meshes large-file pipelines GPU rendering in the browser.

$230000 - $250000 a year
