Job Summary
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) High school diploma or equivalent.
(2) Valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements.
(3) Minimum three (3) years experience driving a school bus with routing experience preferred.
(4) Experience in the use of a two-way radio.
(5) Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of district geography area roadways and surface streets. Ability to operate and interpret bus routing software and computer systems. Excellent customer service and communication skills both oral and written. Ability to communicate effectively with administrators bus drivers school staff and parents. Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective action. Knowledge of office procedures and records management practices. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.

JOB GOAL:
To support the efficient and safe operation of the districts transportation program by coordinating routing communications records management and daily logistics in collaboration with the Superintendent and transportation staff.
SUPERVISES:
N/A This position does not supervise or evaluate other employees.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Delivery
*(1) Drive assigned bus routes as scheduled and provide substitute driving coverage as needed.
*(2) Operate and interpret bus routing software to develop maintain and update accurate route and stop information.
*(3) Input and maintain accurate student transportation data including regular and special education assignments.
*(4) Assign students to appropriate buses in compliance with Individual Education Plan (IEP) guidelines as they relate to transportation.
*(5) Maintain accurate maps route records and related documentation.
*(6) Assist in preparing route and stop information for administrative review and distribution.
*(7) Dispatch bus operators and assistants via radio as needed; receive respond to and relay radio communications.
*(8) Record and track leave requests for operators and assistants and assist in arranging route coverage for absences mechanical issues or emergencies.
*(9) Transmit instructions to bus operators regarding route changes road closures or detours and students not attending school.
*(10) Answer phones and respond to inquiries from parents school staff and the public in a professional and timely manner; route calls to appropriate personnel as needed.
*(11) Maintain a log of calls related to early or late buses and other routine communications.
*(12) Notify schools of bus number or route changes and communicate late bus arrivals.
*(13) Follow established procedures for emergency situations and transmit emergency information to drivers and supervisors on duty.
*(14) Assist in maintaining attendance records and monitoring assignments for drivers and assistants.
*(15) Perform routine office duties as necessary including filing data entry and records maintenance.
*(16) Assist the Superintendent and Business Manager with reports surveys and other administrative tasks as needed.
*(17) Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned duties.

*(34) Prepare or assist in preparing all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
*(35) Participate in cross-training activities as required.
*(36) Assist other transportation staff as needed.
Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
*Essential Performance Responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work: Ability to safely operate a school bus. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Oregon School Employees Association (OSEA) Classified Staff
Pay Grade: As Per OSEA Agreement Base contract of 190 days worked per year FLSA Non-Exempt
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of support personnel and the terms of the OSEA collective bargaining agreement.
