Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent for a Health Care Compliance Officer to be located in West Chester PA; Raynham MA; Warsaw IN; Raritan NJ; or New Brunswick NJ.


Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies as may be required regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.


Should you accept this position it is anticipated that following conclusion of the transaction you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes programs policies and benefit that case details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Purpose: This role provides strategic leadership for healthcare compliance within a highly dynamic and regulated environment while enabling compliant and sustainable growth across DePuy Synthes businesses.


Under the direction of the HCC US Regional Lead the HCCO will be primarily responsible for the implementation and support of programs designed to ensure the Company meets statutory and regulatory requirements relating to health care fraud and abuse; as well as advertising and promotion laws governing the Companies commercial and scientific position assures the alignment of the Companies HCC activities within the overall organization andreinforces the message that compliance is a Company priority and hasaccess to the resources needed to assure implementation of an effective compliance program.

This is a high-impact role offering broad visibility across Orthopedics with the opportunity to influence decision-making strengthen a culture of integrity and support innovation that improves patient outcomes worldwide.

This role reports to the HCC US Regional Lead.


You will be responsible for:

  • Serves as a trusted advisor and provides strategic HCC leadership and oversight for DePuy Synthes US businesses.
  • Serves as a thought partner to senior leaders advising on complex business initiatives commercialization strategies medical affairs activities and emerging business models in a manner that enables compliant execution.
  • Actively participates as a member of relevant business leadership teams embedding compliance perspectives early into strategy development and execution discussions.
  • Assures the independence and visibility of compliance activities and reinforces the message that Health Care Compliance (HCC) is a company priority.
  • Ensures the Compliance Program effectively corrects prevents and detects violations of laws regulations and policies; and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Builds partnerships with stakeholders to maintain an appropriate culture of compliance and drive a sustainable compliance program.
  • Oversees follow-up and resolution of investigations generated by the program (including for-cause investigations and anonymous reports) as directed by legal counsel.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelors degree in business life sciences healthcare law or a related field.
  • Preferred: Masters degree (MBA MPH) or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance legal regulatory or risk management roles preferably within medical devices pharmaceuticals or life sciences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supporting complex matrixed commercial organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare laws and regulations (e.g. Anti-Kickback Statute False Claims Act Sunshine Act).
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive compliant business decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of compliance frameworks due diligence monitoring and operational risk management.
  • Excellent judgment communication and executive presence.
  • Experience supporting Orthopedics portfolio of products preferred.
  • Prior experience in a global or large-scale U.S. MedTech organization preferred.
  • Background partnering with sales marketing and medical education teams preferred.
  • Experience supporting business transformations divestitures or organizational change preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry codes such as AdvaMed preferred.
  • Language: English (required).
  • Travel: Up to 15-20% domestic travel.
  • Certifications: Compliance legal or ethics certifications (e.g. CHC) preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$122000.00 - $212750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans employees are eligible to participate in the Companys consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation 120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado 48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington 56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay including Floating Holidays 13 days per calendar year

Work Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
