About this Role

NorthStar Energy Solutions LLC. is hiring! The Heavy Haul Driver is responsible for safely transporting heavy equipment oversized loads construction materials and utility construction assets to and from job sites yards vendors and project locations. The role supports field operations by ensuring equipment is delivered on time properly secured and in compliance with company policies DOT regulations permit requirements and all applicable federal state and local transportation laws.

What Youll Do
  • Safely operate heavy haul trucks lowboys flatbeds step decks RGN trailers andother tractor-trailer combinations as assigned.

  • Transport heavy construction and utility equipment such as excavators dozers backhoes trenchers digger derricks bucket trucks cable pullers reel trailers cranes skid steers loaders and other specialized assets.

  • Load unload chain bind flag and secure equipment and materials in accordancewith company standards DOT regulations and proper load securement practices.

  • Perform pre-trip en-route and post-trip inspections of trucks trailers equipmentload securement tires lights brakes hydraulics and safety equipment.

  • Verify load weights dimensions route restrictions permits escort requirementsand delivery instructions before transport.

  • Plan and follow safe routes for oversized or overweight loads including awarenessof bridge limits height clearances road restrictions traffic conditions and weatherimpacts.

  • Maintain accurate driver logs inspection reports fuel records bills of ladingdelivery tickets permits and other required transportation documentation.

  • Communicate professionally with dispatch fleet leadership project managersforemen mechanics vendors and job site personnel regarding pickup and deliverystatus.

  • Report equipment defects safety concerns incidents delays route issues ormaintenance needs immediately to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Assist with basic equipment movement yard organization trailer staging andgeneral fleet support duties as needed.

  • Follow all company safety rules customer site requirements OSHA expectationsand utility construction worksite procedures.

  • Maintain a clean organized and professional truck and trailer while representingthe company in a safe and courteous manner.
What Youll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a clean and acceptabledriving record.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience operating commercial tractor-trailers; heavyhaul or equipment transport experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations hours-of-service rules vehicle inspectionrequirements and load securement standards.
  • Experience loading unloading chaining binding and transporting heavyequipment safely.
  • Ability to read and understand permits route plans maps GPS instructionsdelivery paperwork and basic equipment information.
  • Ability to safely operate manual and automatic transmission trucks as required bythe fleet.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing inaccordance with DOT and company requirements.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including early mornings evenings weekends overnight travel and overtime as project needs require.
  • Strong attention to detail safety awareness communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in utility construction electrical transmission distribution gastelecom substation foundation or civil construction environments.
  • Experience operating lowboy RGN extendable multi-axle pole reel flatbed stepdeck or specialized utility trailers.
  • Experience hauling oversized or overweight loads and working with route permitsand escort requirements.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment operation sufficient to load and unloadequipment safely.
  • Tank doubles/triples or hazmat endorsements if required by company operations.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify maintenance issues before theybecome safety or reliability concerns.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods while maintaining focus and safe vehiclecontrol.
  • Ability to climb on and off trucks trailers and equipment using three points ofcontact.
  • Ability to stand walk bend kneel reach twist pull and perform repetitive movements during inspections and load securement.
  • Ability to lift carry push or pull up to 50 pounds as needed including chainsbinders straps tools and safety equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat cold rainwind mud and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including hard hat safetyglasses gloves high-visibility clothing steel-toe boots and other job-specific PPE.
