Geological Services Technician

The role supports the Geology team in daily open pit operations by collecting documenting and managing geological data to ensure accurate ore control grade control and production efficiency. This role is hands-on field-based and critical to safe and effective mining.

1. Daily Tasks

• Assist with grade control and Ore delineation in an active open pit environment
• Conduct blast hole logging including lithology alteration mineralization and structure
• Mark up and maintain dig lines ore/waste boundaries and pit mapping
• Collect and manage samples ensuring proper labeling and chain of custody
• Support drill programs including coordination sample handling and logging assistance
• Operate GPS/survey equipment to record sample points and geological features
• Maintain accurate and timely data entry into geological systems
• Perform daily pit inspections and communicate findings to geologists
• Strong observational and data accuracy skills
• Ability to work independently in the field

2. Safety

• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment
• Maintain field equipment and workspaces
• Problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to safety

3. Teamwork

• Assist with stockpile tracking and reconciliation
• Collaborate with operations to align ore control practices
• Effective communication with geologists and crews
• High accountability and reliability

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or GED
• 13 years experience in mining or field-based operations (preferred)
• Prior experience in gold or hard rock mining (preferred)
• Experience with sampling procedures and data recording
• Experience with blast hole logging and grade control
• Experience using GPS/survey equipment
• Experience with wearing respirators 
• Basic understanding of geological concepts
• Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments
• Experience with Excel and Word
• Strong attention to detail
