Gateway Regional School District is seeking a Principal for Gateway Regional School (Grades 6-12)
Gateway Regional School (GRS) in Huntington MA is the heart of the 6 communities served by the Gateway Regional School this small rural school of approximately 350 students in Grades 6-12 each Gateway Gator isempowered to excel in life after graduation through intentionally personalized learning pathways and opportunities crafted to foster a future of achievement contribution understanding leadership and community impact. Our school offers academically rigorous classes diverse extracurricular activities and 2 CTE programs to meet students needs. With strong support from our community and external funders GRS is on the journey to transform our students educational experiences so that high engagement academic success and holistic well-being are accessible to all. The next GRS principal will enter at an exciting time for innovation distibuted leadership and system-wide coherence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree
- Massachusetts secondary principal certification.
- Experience in public school administration and/or public school teaching. Preference for prior engagement in secondary school transformation.
- A commitment to excellence collaboration and inclusion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans organizes administers manages and coordinates all educational programming of the school.
- Serves as the instructional leader for the school and drives teaching and learning designed to meet the needs of all students to learn grade-level standards.
- Supervises directs and evaluates all school programs to ensure that the programs are achieving the goals.
- Supports systems for promoting positive behaviors and tiered interventions to meet the academic and social needs of a diverse student population maintaining high expectations and motivation for all students to engage in continuous learning and development.
- Leads and participates in data meetings with teachers for individualized classroom and school-based analysis for continuous improvement.
- In collaboration with the Pupil Service Director leads all buildingbased special education programming.
- Supervises directs and evaluates professional personnel paraprofessionals clerical and support staff assigned to the school.
- Serves as the co-chair of the school council and is responsible for all aspects of the schools improvement plan.
- Establishes in collaboration with appropriate staff members and school council a clearly defined set of goals and objectives which are consistent with district priorities for the school.
- Implements and maintains a program of professional development and improvement which is designed to meet the identified needs of staff and is consistent with goals for instruction and educational programming in collaboration with the Superintendent.
- Provides a school culture where students staff and community can learn work and function in a school that is safe equitable culturally-responsive and promotes a climate of respect and responsibility.
- Works collaboratively with the Superintendent on matters regarding personnel including recruitment selection tenure assignments and discipline.
- Oversees and implements the evaluation of teacher performance through the districts approved evaluation system.
- Assigns staff so that the strengths of the individual best meet the requirements of the task and develops and facilitates a school-wide schedule to meet student needs.
- With the central office staff coordinates and supervises support functions such as maintenance security food services after school programs library activities and accounting.
- Provides to the staff students and school community an attractive safe and healthy environment in which learning and related activities can take place within available resources.
- Responsibly allocates financial resources of the school to support program goals.
- Prepares submits justifies and presents a complete budget plan related to identified school goals.
- Monitors all purchases and expenditures and satisfies all accounting procedures consistent with regulations.
- Develops procedures for implementing and monitoring student progress to include classroom assessments student progress reports benchmark assessments standardized assessments including but not limited to MCAS and parent feedback.
- Leads or monitors the schools MTSS team.
- Oversees all afterschool programming including interscholastic athletics.
- Supervises the maintenance of all pupil personnel records including enrollment attendance permanent record folders progress reports and such others as are necessary and required.
- Prepares reports required by the central office school committee state federal and other agencies and makes presentations when appropriate.
- Communicates to the staff students and community on a regular basis information and materials that will accurately portray school programs plans and policies in order to provide the community with the resources and data needed to better understand the schools.
- Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all school committee policies and regulations by staff and students.
- Attends all school committee meetings and leadership team meetings.
- Makes school personnel aware of availability of state and federal funds to support and/or initiate educational programs and provides guidance in the writing and development of such programs.
- Leads and participates in ongoing professional development.
- Performs those duties not specifically described above yet deemed necessary by the superintendent and school committee.
