FR-SA3 - System Administrator - Level 3
Location: Columbia MD / Annapolis Junction MD
Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI with Active Full Scope Polygraph
3 Year Contract

Client is hiring two senior System Administrators. Youll provide Tier 3 support for the implementation troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology systems in an on-site SCIF environment in the Columbia and Annapolis Junction Maryland area. An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required prior to start.

This is a principal-level role managing IT system infrastructure and related processes including day-to-day operations monitoring and problem resolution for client server storage network and mobile devices. The environment features large Linux/UNIX software deployments clustered storage (Ceph) Kubernetes orchestrated containers and configuration management tooling such as Puppet and Ansible.

Key Responsibilities
IT Systems Operations and Maintenance
  • Provide support for implementation troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations monitoring and problem resolution for all client server storage network and mobile devices
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning
Tier 3 Problem Resolution and Escalation
  • Provide Tier 3 problem identification diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Provide in-depth expertise in troubleshooting IT systems
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remain involved in the resolution process
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware applications and software integration
Container and Storage Technology
  • Administer large software deployments on Linux/UNIX systems
  • Administer clustered storage solutions (e.g. storage appliances Ceph)
  • Administer Kubernetes orchestrated containers
  • Apply system configuration management software (e.g. Puppet Ansible)
  • Apply change control and requirements tools (e.g. JIRA Git)
Systems Configuration and Engineering
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and install/load operating system software
  • Troubleshoot maintain integrity of and configure network components and implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Support the design of systems mission architecture and associated hardware
  • Apply a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
User Support
  • Assist users in accessing and using IT systems
  • Support Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification diagnosis and resolution as needed
Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional System Administrator experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

Experience: Fifteen (15) or more years of experience as a System Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope type and complexity.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph must be active prior to start
  • Experience with container technology including administering large software deployments on Linux/UNIX systems
  • Experience administering clustered storage solutions (e.g. storage appliances Ceph)
  • Experience with Kubernetes orchestrated containers
  • Experience with system configuration management software (e.g. Puppet Ansible) and change control
  • In-depth experience troubleshooting IT systems and providing Tier 3 problem resolution
Desired Skills
  • Change control and requirements tools such as JIRA and Git
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration; RHCSA or RHCE certification
  • Windows Server administration and virtualization (e.g. VMware)
  • Scripting for automation (Bash Python)
  • Working knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) interdependencies
  • CompTIA Security or equivalent DoD 8570 baseline certification
