Job Summary
Primary Purpose
The program director is responsible for coordinating program operation adhering to the regulations set forth by AmeriCorps Seniors (Corporation for National Service) and the sponsoring agency Appalachian State University. The director acts as an advocate for low-income seniors and the services provided in the community as well as the PR person collaborating with other agencies such as Boards of Education principals teachers developmental day school staff and head start staff. It is also the responsibility of the director to seek additional revenues to help support and expand the program. This is a grant-funded program and role.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are to run the Foster Grandparent Program which includes knowledge of AmeriCorps Seniors policies and practices budget management and oversight being a liaison between teachers volunteers and boards of education recruiting volunteers and the university; writing grant proposals and reports; and exercising the following functional competencies: Communication & Marketing Consultancy Skills Information Analysis/Decision Making Leadership Professional Knowledge Program/Project Administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
