O&G Industries Inc. an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington CT is seeking a Fleet Washer & Sandblasting Technician to join our team. This position is based out of our Torrington repair facility. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast.

In this role you will operate steam-cleaning and high-pressure washing equipment to clean fleet vehicles trailers and construction equipment while also assisting with sandblasting body shop operations and light mechanical work.

This position is ideal for someone comfortable with working around heavy equipment grease oil dirt water and noise while also using proper protective equipment. Hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. 2:30 p.m.

Union membership is required at the time of hire or within the applicable application window.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial steam cleaners pressure washers and related equipment safely.
  • Wash company vehicles heavy equipment trucks trailers parts and components.
  • Remove grease oil dirt concrete asphalt and other heavy buildup before repairs inspections painting or maintenance.
  • Prepare equipment and components for sandblasting.
  • Perform sandblasting duties as needed and after receiving proper training.
  • Support the body shop with equipment preparation moving vehicles and parts surface preparation and general shop duties.
  • Perform light mechanical maintenance and repairs as assigned.
  • Assist mechanics with lubrication greasing fluid and filter service parts removal and replacement and other basic mechanical tasks.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment after washing and report damage or additional maintenance concerns.
  • Move vehicles equipment trailers and parts around the yard and repair facility as needed.
  • Operate a forklift to move parts materials and equipment around the shop and yard as needed and as properly trained.
  • Keep the steam room body shop yard tools and equipment orderly and ready for use.
  • Follow all company safety environmental chemical-handling high-pressure washing sandblasting and personal protective equipment procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience with industrial pressure washing steam cleaning heavy equipment heavy-duty vehicles automotive repair body shop work sandblasting or mechanical maintenance.
  • Basic mechanical ability and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Class B CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Previous forklift experience or the ability to safely operate a forklift. Must also have the ability to obtain a forklift license.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and trucks around the yard and repair facility as needed.
  • Ability to work safely around trucks vehicles heavy equipment tools chemicals and high-pressure equipment.
  • Comfortable working in wet dirty greasy noisy dusty and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to stand bend climb reach lift and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Practical experience and mechanical aptitude are valued.
