Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently hiring a Firmware Integration Engineer to support our global software client in Vancouver Washington. The position requires a strong technical background with in depth understanding of firmware. The primary responsibility of this position will be to work with the Engineering/Test team to optimize firmware processes and testing. This is a full-time long-term 100% onsite position with Monday-Friday day shift hours. You must reside locally to the client-site in Vancouver Washington and must already be eligible for employment in the US without visa sponsorship.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • C firmware development.
  • Managing firmware upgrades and OOBE processes.
  • Managing firmware smoke testing and its processes.
  • Defect backlog management with the Integration Team.
  • First-level triage reassignment fixes documentation and closure.
  • Process improvements to reduce defect escapes.
  • HP-specific platform training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong technical background with an in-depth understanding of firmware skills to include the following:
    • o Demonstrated experience developing and building firmware in C.
      o Ability to manage/write/perform firmware upgrades/OOBE process.
      o Ability to manage firmware smoke testing and processes.
      o Experience supporting and creating processes.
      o Experience performing first-level defect triage including reviewing issues assigning or reassigning ownership implementing fixes documenting resolutions and closing resolved defects.
      o Ability to decrease escapes.
      o Ability to produce detailed and precise documents needed for review.
      o Experience in SW/FW testing that verifies strict conformance to high level industry standard.
      o Experience in high level test review to verify and characterize defects for HP development teams.
      o Experience with test execution planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills is required.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles and software testing best practices is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about challenges are necessary.
  • Must have a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Excellent business communication and collaboration skills with the ability to relate well and work effectively with customers cross-functional teams and co-workers is essential.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to follow detailed directions.
  • At minimum intermediate user knowledge with Microsoft Office products like Word Excel Teams SharePoint OneDrive and Access with comfortability navigating and viewing web pages.
  • 4-year STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) technical/college diploma is highly desired. On-the-job software/firmware work experience and job skills in lieu of a 4-year college diploma may be acceptable.
  • Minimum 4 years work experience as an engineer in a product development/test environment preferred. Work experience requirement can be waived/reduced depending on education qualifications skillset industry standard certifications or other related industry work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior professional experience with HP printers is highly preferred; experience with the Dune platform is a plus.
