Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States Europe Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Financial Systems Manager in the Finance department reporting to the Director of Financial Systems.

The role can reside in the Dallas New York or Washington DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for maintaining financial systems providing and delegating end user support testing and implementation of customizations to existing applications and new applications. The Financial Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing departmental personnel serving as a positive role model and mentor.

The Financial Systems Manager is expected to demonstrate initiative to accurately complete projects in a timely fashion. The Financial Systems Manager is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firms attorneys advisors and staff and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supervise and support Financial Systems team members including helping define objectives monitor progress provide feedback and conduct annual appraisals.
  • Provide guidance and support to assigned departmental staff and assist with staff development.
  • Manage and maintain the firms financial systems; Aderant Expert classic Aderant Expert Framework iTimekeep Expert Image INTAPP Open Chrome River EIS and others.
  • Support oversight of systems processes implementations security system performance data integrity end-user experience and engagement.
  • Assist in evaluating business needs for new technology solutions and software development initiatives with a focus on innovation and process improvement.
  • Participate in new system development initiatives through consultation with end-users IT software vendors and other third-party consulting firms.
  • Manage or assist with system upgrades patch applications and testing of new customizations including supporting the development of test strategies and tools.
  • Assist with project management of new development efforts or new software implementations.
  • Responsible for the month-end closing activities including coordinating assigned duties and supporting timely completion.
  • Initiate/monitor/document all interfaces between financial databases and applications.
  • Oversee and assist with the creation and/or modification of bill templates and check formats within Aderant Expert environment
  • Act as liaison between Finance and IT software vendors and other third-party consulting service providers including assisting with specifications for needed customizations or new initiatives.
  • Provide Help Desk support for financial systems.
  • Create functional and technical documentation provide training and support to finance user group.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Experience Knowledge Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance computer systems or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 57 years of relevant experience including at least 3 years of people or project management responsibility.
  • Experience with Aderant Expert.
  • Advanced experience with Aderant Expert programming environment including Docudraft Design Studio End User painter Security Manager and other customization tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of Aderant Expert table structure and data flow.
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and T-SQL skills required.
  • SSRS SSIS and VBA knowledge required.
  • Advanced proficiency and extensive experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate potentially detailed and complex information to others.
  • Strong project leadership analytical creative problem solving and process improvement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner.
  • Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users peers office and firm management and outside business partners.
  • Ability to work well under pressure facilitate solutions and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned.

The anticipated base salary range for this position in New York and Washington DC is $155000 to $195000. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education qualifications years of relevant experience certifications or other professional licenses held job-related knowledge and skills business needs and the location from which the work will be performed. Additionally salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility) a discretionary bonus and various paid time off benefits.
