Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Bursar and University Cashier the Financial Representative provides various services to assist the Universitys students faculty and staff with their Campus ID Card (OneCard) and financial needs. This requires a thorough knowledge of University and Campus Cards systems and a thorough knowledge of office functions related to the operation of the Bursars Office. Financial Representatives also assist Student Affairs by advising students on their admission financial aid and registration status. This requires effective communication skills and the ability to demonstrate teamwork to ensure the success of the department goals and objectives and the success of the Bursars Office.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4037 per month (Step 1) - $4118 per month (Step 2)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4037 per month (Step 1) - $5881 per month (Step 20)

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Department Information

The Bursars Office is the main artery for the majority of financial activity at the University. Our office is responsible for serving students staff and faculty with their cashiering needs such as registration payments and other fees owed to the University.

Qualifications

Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of financial record-keeping mathematical and general office methods procedures and practices.
Abilities:
In addition to the Accounting Technician I abilities must be able to apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of basic accounting problems; analyze and interpret accounting data; apply problem solving techniques in finding solutions to basic accounting problems; understand and apply applicable rules regulations policies and procedures; use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs web browsers query tools integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems such as student accounting cashiering and student financial aid; work independently; and make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities.
Experience:
Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities.
Education:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Customer Service Experience
1. Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service in a fast-paced office financial student services or higher education environment.
2. Ability to professionally assist a diverse population of students faculty staff and community members.
Communication Skills
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain financial processes policies and procedures.
4. Ability to handle sensitive or complex situations with professionalism tact and discretion.
Financial and Cash Handling Experience
5. Experience processing financial transactions payments refunds deposits or reconciliations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
6. Ability to identify and resolve account discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
Technical and Systems Knowledge
7. Experience using financial systems cashiering systems databases or student information systems.
8. Ability to quickly learn University systems ID Card systems and office technologies.
Organization and Attention to Detail
9. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities maintain accuracy and meet deadlines in a busy operational environment.
10. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Teamwork and Collaboration
11. Ability to work collaboratively with campus departments external partners and coworkers to support departmental goals and improve service delivery.
12. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty students staff and members of the community.
Student Support and Advising
13. Experience assisting or advising students regarding admissions registration financial aid or related student services.
14. Ability to explain processes and guide individuals through complex procedures.

16. Demonstrated initiative in improving processes supporting special projects or contributing to operational enhancements.
Confidentiality and Professional Judgment
17. Ability to handle confidential financial and student information responsibly and in compliance with institutional policies.
Conditions of Employment:

Preffered Qualifications
18. Experience working in a university bursar cashiering ID Card financial aid or student service office.
19. Familiarity with Campus ID card systems Illumia (Transact CashNet) systems or student account operations.
20. Experience with reconciliation reporting or payment processing systems.
