SUMMARY
The Field/System Supervisor oversees natural gas gathering and transmission pipeline operations optimizing throughput while ensuring safety for the public employees assets and the environment. This role involves leadership in maintaining system integrity ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and managing operational efficiency.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Safety and Public Awareness:
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture ensuring safe operations through public awareness programs meetings with public officials and participation in Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs).
- Oversee and enforce safety protocols to protect the public employees and the environment.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all regulatory requirements are met with timely filing of all necessary reports.
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Customer Service:
- Understand customer needs and ensure the highest level of service is provided.
- Act as a liaison between the company and customers ensuring clear communication and prompt issue resolution.
- Budget Management:
- Control operating and maintenance (O&M) costs by identifying non-value-added expenses.
- Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports to make value-added decisions that align with budgetary constraints.
- Asset Integrity.
- Maintain the integrity of assets by overseeing chemical and corrosion programs equipment performance maintenance activities and right-of-way patrolling.
- Monitor pipeline pressures and volumes to ensure safety efficiency and maximum profitability.
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement measures to achieve the companys vision of being the best in the industry.
- Collaborate with other divisions of the business to reach shared goals and drive continuous improvement.
- Measurement Integrity:
- Maintain measurement integrity to minimize Lost and Unaccounted-for Gas (LUFG) and ensure accurate measurement.
- Implement best practices in measurement to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all internal state and federal regulations.
- Maintain honest respectful and effective internal and external working relationships.
- Complete all training as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Education and Experience:
- A related university degree with seven-plus years of experience or ten-plus years of previous field operations experience or an equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of natural gas systems and pipeline operations.
- Must be available 24/7 for on-call duties and emergency response.
- Must be able to work a 60 hour work week at times to ensure duties and responsibilities are met.
- Technical Skills - Proficiency in various computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
- Must reside within sixty-five miles of the assigned area to ensure prompt response times.
- A valid drivers license is required for this position.
- Natural Gas Compression and Driven Equipment experience and understanding.
- Basic reading and mathematics as applied to equipment maintenance.
- Accepted safety standards and methods of natural gas pipelines.
- Pertinent Federal state and local laws codes and regulations affecting health and safety.
Ability to:
- Observe and take remedial action on equipment issues.
- Read and interpret gauges equipment logs and specifications.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Maintain effective working relationships.
- Deal tactfully and cost-effectively with vendors.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED and EXERCISED
- Reports to Director of Operations
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
- Exposure to natural gas chemicals heavy equipment and sharp and hazardous tools in plant areas.
- Limited office environment; exposure to computer screens.
Physical Conditions:
- Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for:
- Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
- Using hand and mechanical tools for maintenance and repair.
- Verbally communicating with both internal and external contacts.
- Occasionally lift objects of no more than fifty pounds unassisted.
- Conducting inspections requiring operating a vehicle bending stooping
climbing crawling keeling and visual acuity.
