The Field Safety Manager provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of safety programs. The Field Safety Manager will coordinate with the Corporate Safety function in the creation of regional safety programs and assist the regional leadership in the implementation of these programs throughout the region. The primary job function of the Field Safety Manager is to reduce claims through onsite visits that determine the root causes of losses analysis and solution implementation.
In coordination with the Corporate Safety function this role will:
- Ensure compliance with SP safety policies and all applicable federal state and local regulations governing environmental health and safety.
- Analyze risk information to identify trends develop necessary programs prioritize initiatives and evaluate performance.
- Serve as the day-to-day Safety resource for designated region.
- Remain familiar with safety policies and procedures in order to conduct hazard and risk assessments and where necessary make recommendations to senior management.
- Track and analyze ongoing safety conduct periodic evaluations and provide safety statistics and performance metrics.
- Manage the regions vehicle telematics initiative (SmartDrive).
- Develop and deliver safety and health related training in accordance with SPs requirements.
- Ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across the region.
- Conduct (or coordinate) on site reviews of accident scenes collect pertinent data and information; interview involved parties/witnesses; document and report findings.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve the knowledge and skill of the regional management in order to improve systems and positively impact the safe operations of the business.
- Promote safety awareness in the region.
- Champion regional safety initiatives and policies and ensure their implementation.
- Track all regional claims and produce reports as needed.
- Ensure all SP employees in the region have completed the proper safety training.
- Bachelors degree required preferably in Occupational Safety or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience for other college majors.
- 4 years of safety & health compliance experience or equivalent operational experience is required.
- Creative thinker with the ability to translate complex ideas and metrics into simple actionable recommendations.
- Ability to analyze workplace incidents and suggest alternative methods to prevent injury in the future.
- Skilled at obtaining and processing information and providing actionable feedback to the organization.
- Strong analytical logical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel Word and PowerPoint) and Google software applications.
Salary Range: $60000-$75000 per year
