Our client is seeking a Fiber Design Technician (remote position - must be located in the United States and will be working Central Time hours) to support the planning design and documentation of outside plant (OSP) fiber optic networks. This position plays a key role in supporting network expansion customer service delivery and ongoing maintenance by producing accurate fiber designs maintaining system records and collaborating with engineering construction and operations teams.
The ideal candidate will have experience with OSP fiber network design splice documentation and fiber record management while thriving in a fast-paced production-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Design and document fiber routes splice layouts and handhole placements for service requests network expansions and maintenance projects.
Create update and maintain fiber splice records fiber utilization documentation and FDP port assignments within Network Manager and Arkis.
Research existing fiber assets to determine route feasibility and fiber availability for new services and network growth.
Review construction drawings and as-built documentation to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
Prepare and maintain fiber design drawings splice schematics and supporting documentation.
Coordinate with engineering construction splicing and maintenance teams to resolve design challenges and support service restoration efforts.
Perform ongoing data validation and record cleanup to maintain the integrity of fiber network documentation.
Respond to routine and time-sensitive operational requests.
Meet production goals and project deadlines in a high-volume work environment.
Participate in a daytime on-call rotation.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Minimum of two years of experience in telecommunications outside plant engineering fiber design or a related field.
Working knowledge of OSP fiber networks fiber routing and splicing principles.
Experience working in IQ GEO
Experience maintaining fiber records and design documentation.
Strong attention to detail with excellent data entry accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Network Manager and/or Arkis.
Knowledge of fiber network inventory systems and GIS-based network documentation.
Experience supporting FTTH FTTx or broadband network deployments.
Familiarity with telecommunications construction and field operations.
