Faculty, Paramedic (EMS) Program

Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) is a premier learning community recognized for teaching and learning excellence relevant and responsive programming student success and community outreach and impact. The College serves over 9500 full- and part-time day and evening students each year. It offers 112 associate degrees and certificates in Business Hospitality Management Engineering Information Technology Education Healthcare Human Services Criminal Justice Liberal Arts Mathematics Biotechnology Automotive Technology and General Studies. The College also offers a wide variety of non-credit courses workshops and corporate trainings through its Center for Workforce Development and Continuing Education as well as adult basic education and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes through its Adult Community Learning Center. A number of courses are offered online remote and blended to meet the needs of our diverse students. The College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education Inc. This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in the EMT Basic Paramedic Certificate and Paramedic associate degree. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong paramedic clinical skills and academic experience in emergency medical services.

Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of the School of Healthcare

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom laboratory clinical and/or team-teaching instruction and facilitate individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning as appropriate.
• Coordinate schedule and supervise all clinical rotations for paramedic students. This includes all of the required program time in the various required subspecialties.
• Collaborate with Workforce Development in offering EMT course including scheduling EMT instructors organizing EMT syllabi and instructional time and working to schedule state exams.
• Act as the Liaison between the EMT program and the Program Director for the effective management of all aspects of the EMT Program in Workforce Development
• Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members
• Develop and apply instructional methods that inclusively engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
• Demonstrate professional EMS Paramedicine practice through the ability to teach in the classroom laboratory simulation laboratory clinical and/or field internship setting.
• Develop and apply assessment strategies that equitably maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes
• Participate in the current development implementation and evaluation of the program as related to its CoAEMSP OEMS and NREMTs goals and objectives.
• Follow all college policies and procedures for conducting classroom instruction and for required reporting.
• Work collaboratively with faculty to develop new curriculum and to review current curriculum & programs with a lens toward closing achievement gaps.
• Conduct academic and career advising and connect students to academic and non-academic supports when appropriate.
• Participate in college service activities that support the colleges mission values and strategic plan.
• Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age race gender ability religious convictions socio-economic status ethnic heritage or sexual orientation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
• Evidence of current Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services Paramedic certification in good standing
• Minimum of four (4) years experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care as a Registered Paramedic
• Minimum of four (4) years experience teaching in a nationally accredited paramedic program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor
• Experience with coordinating scheduling and monitoring clinical experiences for students
• A substantial track record of clinical coordination with area healthcare facilities
• Evidence of understanding methods of instruction testing evaluation of students
• Evidence of understanding current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards and about the evidenced-informed clinical practice

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
• Advanced experience as a CPR Instructor ACLS instructor PALS Instructor PHTLS Instructor NPR Instructor Massachusetts OEMS Instructor/Coordinator
• Demonstrated track record of innovation non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery including team teaching across disciplines and simulation.
• Demonstrated experience working with student retention initiatives.
• Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students faculty and staff and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College
• Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges their students and philosophy.
• Evidence of understanding of and appreciation for diversity equity inclusion and multiculturalism.
• Demonstrated track record in innovative non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery including team teaching across disciplines on-line learning and service learning.

Salary is commensurate with MCCC/MTA salary schedule and dependent upon such factors as education and experience. Minimum starting salary for Associate degree level candidate is $58722. Full salary range is $58722-$60951. Full benefits package.
