Job Summary

Introduction
The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) an agency of the Maryland Department of Planning isseeking to hire a full time Facilities Technician for Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM).Located on 560 scenic acres along the Patuxent River in Calvert County Maryland JPPM ishome to over 65 archaeological sites more than 30 historic buildings and structures and theMaryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory. JPPM supports the preservation ofMarylands cultural resources and connects people to the past through the preservation andinterpretation of our onsite historical and archaeological resources.

POSITION DUTIES
Main Purpose of Job
The Facilities Technician provides facility and grounds maintenance and custodialservices for Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM). The position performsmaintenance and repairs on buildings grounds tools equipment vehicles and also provides custodial services for office areas public buildings restrooms andpicnic areas and undertakes daily equipment readings and performs scheduledpreventative maintenance. The Facilities Technician will provide set-up and support forpublic events private rentals and monitor facilities during daily operations rentals andevents to ensure that JPPM policies are being followed as well as monitor facilities toensure the safety and security of the site. This position provides facility-wide support inall areas mentioned above in order to allow the JPPM staff an adequate and safeworking environment in which to meet the mission of MDP and JPPM. Work hours willinclude some evenings weekends and holidays.

Position Duties

Building Maintenance
  • Performs and supports routine building maintenance and repair including electrical mechanical plumbing minor structural interior and decorative work. Inspects buildings identifies needs and assists in updating maintenance plans.
  • Inspects safety equipment to ensure proper operation.
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
  • Ensures all JPPM vehicles and equipmentincluding portable units such as generatorsare maintained according to schedule and that required paperwork is submitted to appropriate agencies. Inspects and performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment and prepares them for seasonal changes.
  • Develops and updates maintenance schedules in consultation with the supervisor.
Mechanical Systems Maintenance
  • Assists in coordinating maintenance for mechanical equipment across JPPM including development and revision of equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Conducts inspections preventative maintenance and scheduled checks of all installed equipment. Performs daily condition checks adjustments and repairs. Determines frequency and replaces intake air filters as needed.
  • Manages temperature humidity and hot water settings using Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Grounds Maintenance
  • Inspects grounds to ensure safety and security standards are met. Assists in developing and updating grounds maintenance schedules.
  • Maintains site appearance through mowing trimming clearing and general grounds care. Ensures trails remain clear safe and accessible. Removes downed or hazardous limbs and trees to ensure visitor and staff safety.
Event Monitoring & Facility Support
  • When scheduled monitors events in the Patterson Center Pavilion MAC Meeting Room and other venues during rentals. Performs related maintenance and custodial duties; ensures spaces are prepared monitored and secured.
  • Provides information and assistance to renters and ensures compliance with rental agreements including event end times and required cleanup.
  • Represents JPPM to the public when supervisors are not on-site.
Security Safety & Communication
  • Maintains clear communication with museum personnel and completes required logs reports and documentation.
  • Secures gates and buildings at the end of the day. Patrols the site identifies unsafe or illegal activity and addresses situations safely.
  • Monitors maintenance and security-related computer systems. Responds to alarms and takes appropriate action. Serves as first responder to building system alerts security alarms and fire alarms assessing situations and notifying proper authorities.
  • Provides first aid and CPR when needed and contacts emergency personnel as appropriate. Interacts with law enforcement DNR Police firefighters and rescue personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Three years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including two years of experience assigning reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers

Notes:1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of amotor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicleoperators license valid in the State of Maryland.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.

  1. One year of experience in customer service or retail.
  2. One year of experience in supporting private or public event planning management or execution that includes customer or stakeholder engagement.
