Job Summary

Position Summary

Coordinates with the waste service provider to arrange compactor dumpster and trash bin hauls for the trash facility. Responsible for collecting and removing trash from all POA amenities and maintaining the trash facility in a clean safe and functional condition.

Oversees the two storage yards borrow pit and Public Works/Facilities Maintenance compound. Assists the Administrative Assistant with storage yard rentals and coordinates storage space availability as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure trash facility equipment is in proper working order and available for use.

  • Maintain the trash facility and surrounding area in a safe clean organized and functional condition.

  • Monitor dumpsters compactors and trash bins and coordinate pickups and hauls with the service provider as needed.

  • Implement and perform preventive maintenance for the trash facility building and equipment.

  • Perform daily trash collection and removal from all POA amenities.

  • Pick up litter and debris along POA rights-of-way and other designated areas.

  • Regularly inspect the storage yards and remove litter debris and weeds.

  • Maintain the grounds surrounding storage yard entrances fencing and gates.

  • Coordinate with Administration regarding the availability of storage yard spaces.

  • Assist the Administrative Assistant with storage yard rentals as needed.

  • Assist with the oversight and general upkeep of the borrow pit and Public Works/Facilities Maintenance compound.

  • Assist with road clearing and cleanup during snow ice wind and other weather-related events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to safely operate a backhoe mini track hoe skid steer loader and other related equipment.

  • Valid drivers license.

  • Equipment operation experience.

  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding outdoor work.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with service providers property owners coworkers and management.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous equipment operation experience required.

Physical Demands

This position requires regular walking standing stooping squatting bending pushing pulling twisting turning and lifting. The position may also require periodic weekend shifts.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry varied weights up to 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Must be able to safely mount and dismount vehicles and equipment.

  • Must be able to climb and use ladders as required.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.

The majority of work is performed outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions including heat cold rain humidity wind and dry or dusty conditions. The employee may occasionally encounter wildlife while performing assigned duties.
