UW Libraries has an outstanding opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join their team.

About this opportunity

The Facilities Manager leads daily operations and maintenance of Libraries spaces across the Seattle campus ensuring a safe functional and welcoming environment for staff students and visitors. This position is responsible for managing building access coordinating maintenance and renovations supporting events and space usage and supervising facilities staff. The Facilities Manager serves as the primary operational link between the central Facilities & Events team and site contacts at each UW Libraries location across campus ensuring consistent standards of care and responsiveness across all sites.

UW Libraries Seattle footprint encompasses 11 libraries and offsite storage occupying all or part of 17 buildings and totaling just under 1 million square feet. These spaces house over 7 million pieces of physical material and special collections support the work of 500 student and full-time staff and accommodate over 2.5 million visitors per year.

  • Daily Facilities Operations & Issue Triage (35%)

  • Space Planning & Support Project Management (25%)

  • Multi-Site Coordination (15%)

  • Emergency Planning (10%)

  • Strategic & Policy Support (10%)

  • Supervision & Staffing. This position manages employees. (5%)

Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and 3-4 years of work experience in facilities or building management.

  • Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be forwarded to the Hiring Manager.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with educational or institutional facilities management

  • Understanding of building systems in large multi-use or historic structures including HVAC electrical plumbing and life safety

  • Demonstrated project management skills including planning scoping and coordinating facilities projects

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with a wide variety of individuals.

  • Familiarity with basic construction practices and methods and experience working in or collaborating with maintenance and building trades

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills

  • Curiosity creativity and imagination.

Desired Qualifications

  • Supervisory or lead work experience.

  • Previous experience working in libraries

Working Conditions

  • Able to lift 50 pounds drive a fleet van use basic hand tools

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$75720.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$85800.00 annual
