Position Duties and Responsibilities:Under the general direction of the Facilities Executive Director the Facilities Manager maintains College campus facilities grounds and infrastructure while supporting leadership planning and direction for Food Services. The position supports the Facilities Executive Director and other College divisions by helping ensure a functioning safe and inviting campus for students employees and public daily Facilities operations and direct the Maintenance and Grounds teams to maintain and improve campus buildings grounds utilities equipment and infrastructure; coordinate campus moves fixture support and snow and ice removal.
- Manage Food Services operations including budgets purchasing sales customer relationships staffing and coordination with campus divisions to support efficient use of facilities and resources consistent with the Colleges mission.
- Develop and implement facilities goals unit plans policies procedures programs and technical practices; monitor progress and promote responsive service-oriented support for students employees and the public.
- Manage personnel work priorities services equipment supplies and the work order system; involve employees in appropriate decision-making and coordinate staffing and setup support for campus operations.
- Provide in-house technical expertise and manage outside contractors as needed for maintenance repair and construction; conduct site and completion inspections to ensure quality regulatory compliance and health and safety standards.
- Operationalize the Colleges policies and procedures in a way that promotes a strong service-orientation to students employees and public stakeholders
- Prepare and monitor budgets projections expenditures inventory supplies and equipment maintenance; provide regular inventory updates and recommend budget revisions based on operational needs and use trends.
- Collaborate with Safety and CISS departments to ensure reliable and compliant safety and security systems throughout facilities and campus. Systems include but not limited to fire and security alarm systems building energy system monitoring and video surveillance
- Respond to campus facilities and operations emergencies; provide support to staff for security issues during all shifts
- Serve on campus committees and perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Executive Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities:- Provide effective supervision as necessary to assigned personnel staff to maximize performance by appropriately delegating tasks and by providing employees with clear and effective guidance on work priorities and workplace issues
- Develop an effective and efficient staff by interviewing and hiring qualified applicants training individuals with emphasis on working procedures operation and use of new equipment and materials safety and College polices and through regular performance evaluation
- Build a collaborative team environment through open and consistent communication where all team members contribute and participate in department planning and development.
- Prepare a variety of reports such as analyses of operational workloads service requirements procedures and employee job performance evaluations
- Assign employee work hours job responsibilities and as necessary specific job tasks to meet the needs of the College
- Maintain a working knowledge of and adhere to all policy law and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement(s) regarding employee working conditions overtime rules leave policies payroll procedures etc.
- Effectively manage employee relations within the department including facilitation of conflict resolution and the handling of formal or informal grievances as necessary

- Demonstrate experience in facilities maintenance groundskeeping custodial services safety and/or food services with substantial expertise in at least one of these areas.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and supervisory skills including the ability to guide train coach organize and work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Utilize strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 database management work order systems energy management systems and other software packages in the regular performance of the position.
- Prepare accurate detailed documentation and written correspondence independently or with collaborative tools to gather analyze and communicate necessary information to Facilities team campus and others.
- Understand and apply laws rules codes and accepted practices for emergency and safety operations in educational or public facilities including OSHA NFPA and FEMA NIMS; provide training and assistance related to chemical safety personal protective equipment basic industrial hygiene safe work practices and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Manage crisis situations and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced stressful environment by prioritizing competing demands meeting deadlines adapting to changing business needs processes challenges and responsibilities and applying strong analytical problem-solving project management and time-management skills.
- Display integrity and act with discretion by accessing individual or institutional information for a stated business purpose
- Work independently and on a flexible schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a Washington State background check
- Five years of experience in facilities and operations focused on one of the following facilities-related trades: maintenance groundskeeping custodial services and/or safety.
- Three years of experience supervising a team of four or more full-time facilities-related staff members
- Associates Degree
OR
- high school graduation or equivalent plus a combination of college level coursework seminars and on-the-job training equivalent to an Associates level
OR
- Equivalent education/experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and/or Completion and certification of a recognized Trade Apprenticeship program to reach Journeyman-Level status (typically 5-year apprenticeship process to reach Journeyman)
- Three years or more of journeyman level experience in facilities and operations (typically equals eight years of progressive advancement in a trade where five years apprenticeship level work to reach journeyman and then three more years at the skilled level of work)
- Three or more years in last five years supervising four or more full-time facilities-related staff Experience working at an educational institution
- Facilities and operations experience in an educational institution
- Occupational training within the last five years in any related facilities field
Physical Work Environment:
Physically perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation to include but not be limited to:- Shifts which require being mobile and on your feet 100% of the assigned shift
- Shifts which require sitting for 100% of the assigned shift
- Walking stooping bending and lifting; Manual dexterity

- Reaching below knees/knees to shoulders/above shoulder in order to demonstrate routine cleaning tasks required of all Facilities Department positions
- Moving freely from one floor to the next using stairs and from one building to another over uneven surfaces; Fitting in tight spaces in order to demonstrate necessary facilities work
- Work both indoors and outdoors often in inclement weather conditions and extreme ambient temperatures (heat or cold)
- Safely handle power equipment cleaning chemicals and other facilities related equipment and/or products; and working at a computer will be required.
