Thin Films Intern
Role Overview:
Intern will get hands on experience with state-of-the-art semiconductor material deposition using Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) with an emphasis on GaN based materials. Additionally they will use various characterization techniques to assess the grown films structural and electrical qualities. This includes but is not limited to atomic force microscopy (AFM) along with Hall Effect and Lehighton measurements.

Candidate will be given a personalized project to work on that has the potential to impact business order to succeed in this project they will receive ongoing training and mentorship. This work will culminate in a final poster presentation alongside their fellow interns.

Essential Role Functions and Responsibilities:
Thin film vapor deposition with a focus on molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)
Assist with the operation and maintenance of various instruments used for the post-growth analysis of semiconductor materials (Contactless Sheet Resistivity Hall Effect measurements AFM)
Record document and track wafers and perform post-growth analysis.
Assist with repairs maintenance and general upkeep of the deposition equipment.

Required Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in electrical engineering applied physics materials engineering or mechanical engineering and at least in their 3rd year of college study.

Preferred Skillset: Experience with any of the following is highly desired:
Vacuum equipment
Cleanroom work
Semiconductor physics

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work safely in laboratory settings including semiconductor processing and materials growth areas and clean room facilities. Must be capable of working around toxic and hazardous materials with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

During the 12 weeks each Intern will:
Be given an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals
Gain hands on experience
Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision
Be invited to attend an intern webinar series
Attend networking/social events
Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls
Receive formal written feedback

Special Requirements:

The Hourly Range for this position is $20 $47 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors including but not limited to work location relevant candidates experience education and specific knowledge skills and abilities.
