Job Summary
Title: Epidemiologist
Location: Nashville TN - Hybrid
Duration: 9 Months
This position will support statewide and regional efforts to reduce fetal and infant mortality and improve birth outcomes in rural Tennessee communities. The Epidemiologist will perform data analysis program evaluation reporting data visualization and technical assistance while collaborating with public health leadership community organizations funded partners and other stakeholders.

This position will support statewide and regional efforts to reduce fetal and infant mortality and improve birth outcomes in rural Tennessee communities. The Epidemiologist will perform data analysis program evaluation reporting data visualization and technical assistance while collaborating with public health leadership community organizations funded partners and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret maternal fetal infant and other public health data to support program planning and evaluation.
- Conduct epidemiological analyses using vital statistics hospital discharge data Perinatal Periods of Risk (PPOR) and other relevant datasets.
- Develop and maintain databases dashboards data tracking systems and reporting tools.
- Collect validate clean and integrate data from multiple sources while maintaining data quality.
- Monitor program performance measures deliverables and evaluation activities for funded organizations and community collaboratives.
- Develop reports presentations dashboards GIS products data summaries and visualizations for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Identify trends disparities and priority areas related to fetal and infant mortality in rural communities.
- Provide data and technical assistance to grantees community partners and program teams.
- Translate complex epidemiological findings into clear actionable information for leadership and community stakeholders.
- Support state and federal reporting requirements associated with the CMS Rural Health Transformation Program.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings trainings site visits and statewide planning activities.
- Ensure all data products and reports comply with applicable confidentiality and data-release requirements.
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Epidemiology Biostatistics Statistics Public Health Health Informatics or a related field.
- Experience with statistical analysis and epidemiological methods.
- Proficiency with statistical/data analysis software; SAS experience preferred.
- Experience working with large datasets and integrating multiple data sources.
- Strong database management data validation and quality assurance skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present complex data and findings to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
- Experience with Tableau Power BI GIS and/or REDCap.
- Experience in maternal and child health fetal or infant mortality rural health or public health programs.
- Experience with program evaluation or quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of vital statistics PPOR hospital discharge data or similar public health datasets.
- Experience supporting state or federal public health reporting.
