Chevron is seeking a top-tier construction leader to shape and drive enterprise-wide onshore construction performance across its global capital projects portfolio.
This is a high-impact leadership role focused on defining strategy setting standards and building organizational capability. The successful candidate will own the enterprise onshore construction job family lead a team of skilled construction professionals influence major capital investments and ensure safe predictable delivery of large-scale greenfield and brownfield projects. This leader must bring deep technical leadership and business acumen strong enough to grow the next generation of top experts across the onshore construction discipline combined with the personal credibility to be a trusted voice across project teams business units and contractor organizations.
You will operate at the center of Chevrons project execution ecosystem working across business units and functions to deliver excellence through strong leadership collaboration and contractor partnerships. Success in this role requires a leader who builds an inclusive collaborative team environment is direct and decisive in surfacing and resolving trade-offs and holds themselves and others accountable for delivering measurable results.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Lead enterprise-wide construction organization strategy standards and execution excellence across the capital project portfolio.
- Build and lead the enterprise construction capability ensuring the right expertise systems and practices are deployed across projects.
- Shape and influence project execution strategies including delivery models early works and contracting strategies.
- Collaborate across engineering procurement construction systems completion and startup functions to drive integrated project outcomes.
- Establish and maintain strategic contractor partnerships to enable world-class construction performance leveraging deep knowledge of the onshore construction supplier base to build and negotiate strategic partnership agreements.
- Drive adoption of best-in-class construction practices including Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) planning methodologies execution control and performance management.
- Develop high-performing teams and leaders building sustainable organizational capability.
- Own the onshore construction job family including performance management and career and skill development building high-performing teams and developing future leaders across the discipline.
- Ensure disciplined management of execution risks and deliver predictable project outcomes at scale.
- Champion a strong safety and Operational Excellence culture with disciplined management of construction and execution risks in complex processing facilities and rigorous planning for safe execution across all phases of work including early works.
- Serve as a credible visible representative of Chevrons onshore construction capability with senior leadership business units and strategic contractors building trust and confidence in the organizations execution capability.
- Foster a diverse inclusive and psychologically safe team environment working collaboratively across functions while being direct in surfacing risks decisive in driving decisions and accountable for results.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering.
- 15 years of construction leadership experience on large-scale capital projects.
- Demonstrated success leading mega-project construction execution in complex environments (e.g. brownfield and greenfield).
- Deep expertise in modern construction management and execution practices (e.g. planning execution control work packaging).
- Strong knowledge and application of Capital Projects Management Practices principles and tools.
- Proven ability to lead at enterprise scale influencing across stakeholders business units and project leadership teams.
- Strong experience managing major contractors and diverse contracting strategies with knowledge of the onshore construction supplier base and a track record of building strategic partnership agreements.
- Demonstrated experience managing construction and execution risks in complex processing facilities environments with a strong track record of planning and delivering safe execution of work across all project phases including early works.
- Demonstrated personal credibility and executive presence with a track record of earning trust and influencing outcomes across senior leadership project teams and contractor organizations.
- Proven track record of coaching mentoring and developing construction talent with a demonstrated commitment to building bench strength and succession depth within the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to build a diverse inclusive and collaborative team environment paired with a direct decisive and accountable leadership style focused on measurable results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g. PMP CCM) is a plus.
- Experience across both upstream and downstream capital project environments.
- Experience implementing digital construction solutions or innovation programs.
- Proven leadership in building inclusive high-performing teams and strong organizational culture.
- Experience representing the organization in enterprise or industry forums (e.g. contractor advisory boards steering committees) reflecting a credible external presence.
