What You Will Contribute:
Are you someone who enjoys hands-on testing troubleshooting and working with innovative products Were looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical Lab Technician to join our engineering team and play a critical role in testing validating and improving product performance.
In this role youll work alongside Design Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to support product development through mechanical and hydro testing data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute mechanical and performance testing for new and existing products using established test procedures and standards.
- Set up configure and operate test equipment fixtures and instrumentation to support development and validation activities.
- Test production components and prototypes to evaluate functionality reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers and cross-functional teams to investigate product performance and support development projects.
- Accurately document test results observations and conclusions in technical reports and engineering databases.
- Analyze and verify test data to ensure accuracy consistency and repeatability.
- Interpret technical drawings schematics specifications and test plans.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment such as calipers micrometers scales and microscopes for product inspection and evaluation.
- Support calibration maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing methods laboratory equipment safety practices and overall lab efficiency.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities and contribute to a safe organized laboratory environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers and technicians.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly document and communicate testing observations and results.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Comfortable working in a laboratory and testing environment with various mechanical systems and equipment.
- Associate degree technical diploma or equivalent post-secondary education in Mechanical Technology Engineering Technology Manufacturing Technology or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in a mechanical testing laboratory manufacturing product development or engineering support environment.
- Experience using precision measurement tools and laboratory instrumentation preferred.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation preferred.
