Engineering Intern

The Engineer Intern will assist with a variety of engineering projects across Montana and Wyoming. This role provides the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals who will support your civil engineering development through oneonone mentorship. Throughout the internship you will work with engineering applications and software to analyze data develop design solutions draft technical documents and prepare design packages. You may also have opportunities to collaborate with other related disciplines.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Under the direction of a licensed engineer:

• Assist with field investigations analysis of alternative solutions and project design.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Calculate construction quantities from plans and specifications to tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs.
• Provide drafting support using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Prepare and route projectrelated correspondence and maintain project records.
• Assist with writing and editing construction specifications and technical reports.
• Read analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals.
• Respond to inquiries from clients coworkers regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
• Use Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook to complete work tasks.
• Prioritize special projects and daily workload to ensure timely and efficient completion of assignments.

Physical Demands (if any):

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand and walk. Occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

The work environment is primarily an office setting with periodic opportunities for field work.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Apply mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred but not required).
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook
• Selfmotivated eager to learn and able to work independently.

Required Education and Experience:

• Currently pursuing a four-year degree in Engineering Construction Engineering or a related field.
• Prior work experience in construction traffic or other civil engineering-related fields is desirable but not required.
• Driving is an essential job function; a valid drivers license is required to support business needs.
