Toyotas Region 2 Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer to support Body Weld (BOGI) equipment process and new model project execution.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support project planning and implementation for new model and capital projects within Body Weld. This includes early project planning impact analysis layout studies equipment specification procurement installation safety risk assessments process trials part quality confirmation and production readiness.

Reporting to the Manager the person in this role will support Production Engineeringsobjectiveto provide new model processes to the manufacturing facilities that meet targets for Safety Quality Productivity and role will focus on Body Weld systems including process equipment material handling conveyors automation joining equipment quality confirmation equipment and related manufacturing technologies.

What youll be doing

Project Planning and New Model Impact Analysis

  • Lead early project planning andimpactanalysis for Body Weld new model and capital projects

  • Evaluate new model change points anddetermineimpacttoBody Weld equipment layout process flow part handling automation safety and quality confirmation

  • Review model changes against existing shop capability andidentifytechnical change requirements

  • Support feasibility studies investment planning project justification technology feasibility and ROI evaluation

Layout Process and Shop Optimization

  • Perform layout studies focused on part count part placement process count equipment access operator access flexibility technology and shop optimization

  • Support overall Body Weld layout optimization withfocuson flexibility technology process capability safety and manufacturability

  • Identifyopportunities to improve Body Weld competitiveness through equipment process layout and technology improvements

  • Work with Production Maintenance Safety Quality Logistics Facilities and other stakeholders to confirm practical implementation requirements

Equipment Development Procurement and Installation

  • Lead Body Weld equipment projects from concept through launch including new model projects capital projects refurbishment projects and plant competitiveness projects

  • Develop equipment scopes technical specifications buyoff plans installation plans project schedules budgets and quality confirmation plans

  • Support equipment design reviews supplier coordination fabrication follow-up installation debug runoff process trials and final acceptance

  • Coordinate equipment procurement and installation activities with Toyota internal groups and external suppliers

  • Support shutdown weekend holiday and non-production installation work asrequired

Body Weld BOGI Process Ownership

  • Take ownership of assigned Body Weld process areas from planning through production confirmation

  • Confirm process capability equipment functionality part quality safety readiness and handoff to Manufacturing

  • Lead problemsolving forequipment process quality and installation issues

  • Support part quality investigations and countermeasure development for weld dimensional fit and assembly concerns

  • Partner with NAMC production and maintenance teams to ensure solutions are practical maintainable and sustainable

Safety Risk Reduction and Standards

  • Lead safety risk assessments for new or modified Body Weld equipment

  • Support LOTO machine guarding safe access ergonomics stored energy control and equipment safety confirmation

  • Ensure project deliverables include safety quality maintainability andproductionreadiness expectations

  • Identifyopportunities to improve equipment standards placards visual controls and risk communication across Body Weld

  • Promote standardization andbest-practicesharing acrossRegion2 and other Toyota manufacturing locations

Quality Confirmation and Technology

  • Support implementation of quality confirmation technologies for Body Weld processes

  • Evaluatenew technologiesthat improve safety quality productivity cost flexibility and competitiveness

  • Support automation robotic systems joining equipment inspection systems conveyance and related manufacturing technologies

  • Use data trials and production feedback to validate performance and confirm project targets

  • Support digital manufacturing visualization and equipment performance improvement where applicable

Project Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Create and manage project schedules budgets quality confirmation plans and issue tracking

  • Lead assigned project workload while balancing timing resources risk and project milestones

  • Provide clear project updates escalation items and countermeasure planstoleadership

  • Build strong working relationships with TMNA Production Engineering Project Leaders NAMC Pilot Logistics Maintenance PEPD suppliers and other cross-functional partners

  • Support Toyota Business Practices and structured problem solving to close gaps andachieveproject KPI targets

What you bring

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering Engineering Technology or related engineering field; orAssociates Degree in Engineering Technologywith 2 years relevant work experience; or High School Diploma with 7 years relevant work experience

  • Experience in Production Engineering or an engineering role focused on equipment development and/or procurement

  • Self-starting individual with the ability to stay task focused and meet or exceed KPIs related to project requirements

  • Project experience in equipment procurement installations and trials

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (ability to read write and interpret drawings) with a minimum of 2 years of experience

  • Proficient in Inventor and/or Catia with a minimum of 2 years of experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to support weekends holiday periods and shutdowns for tooling modifications and installation activities

  • Ability to travel up to 20% to North American manufacturing locations and Japan

Added bonus if you have

  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or other advanced technical degree

  • Experience in one or more new model launch preparations

  • 2yearsconstruction management experience

  • Experience in Simultaneous Engineering or vehicle design for new model launches

  • Project management experience
