Job Responsibilities:

General Job Duties:

Specific Job Duties:

  • To perform regular workplace inspections conducting safety talks staff meetings tail gate meetings being involved in the accident/incident investigation program training new employees correcting unsafe acts or conditions correct or commend health and safety performance and conducting performance appraisals for workers safety performance.
  • Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.
  • Know and maintain the safety rules for Decostar Industries.
  • Have knowledge of general workplace health and safety in regards to the general public and visitors to Decostar.
  • Recommend equipment improvements or manufacturing methods which would result in improved quality reliability or greater efficiency.
  • Coordinate all mechanical/electrical system modifications with external vendors paint maintenance personnel and facility engineers.
  • Own troubleshoot modify and optimize PLC/HMI control systems.
  • Organize and maintain all system documentation (i.e. mechanical/electrical drawings software documentation and backups equipment configuration parameters).
  • Maintain PLC/HMI software standards backups version control change logs and disaster-recovery procedures.
  • Maintain documented change control for PLC HMI and system modifications including validation of changes prior to release to production.
  • Diagnose controls-related downtime and implement permanent corrective actions using structured root-cause analysis.
  • Outline maintenance practices for paint application automated systems.
  • Develop and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance requirements for automated systems.
  • Identify critical spare parts and obsolescence risks for automation and controls equipment.
  • Design and implement software electrical and mechanical automated system enhancements.
  • Support and assist maintenance personnel with diagnosing software controls and electrical system problems.
  • Identify justify implement and support capital projects. This includes lending design specification and implementation support to other members of the engineering staff.
  • Design implement and support all HMI hardware and software for automated systems.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Must have 2 years of experience in the following: Robot control specifically Fanuc robots preferably knowledgeable in Karel language working experience with Paint Tool and PDT programming Allen Bradley PLCs including PLC5 SLC and Micro processors. Prefer experience in 1K and 2K automated ratio/metering equipment and electrostatic paint application.
  • Must have good problem solving skills.
  • Experienced in electrical and electronic controls. Must be comfortable with control theory with emphasis on PID loops.
  • Computer networking software and hardware skills desirable.
  • Software programming skills using either Visual Basic C or another language required.
  • Project management skills are necessary.
  • AutoCAD experience is necessary.
  • Must work well with others. Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have good math skills including SPC background.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings (customer parts mechanical electrical pneumatic hydraulic and facility).

Education:

  • Required - Bachelors Degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering special cases where past performance demonstrates proficiency in the ability to perform the duties stated above as well as having an associates degree in robotic technology and 4 years of automated paint systems experience an exception may be made.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands as defined by the current production requirements of Decostar.
  • This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours a day and manage stairs on an occasional basis. Lifting up to15 pounds on a frequent basis up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and manage assisted lifting of up to 75 pounds on an infrequent basis is also required. Must be able to perform work that is below the knees and above the shoulders on an occasional basis. This position also requires a person to be capable of performing sustained motion for a minimum of eight (8) hours a day and capable of repetitive motion for up to four (4) hours. Good vision at a close distance is required.
  • Use of PPE including respirators and following the appropriate safety precautions may be required.

Decostar Training Requirements

  • You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety quality continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
