Job Summary

Responsible for developing community employment opportunities and providing community-based job development as well as supporting advancement opportunities for people with disabilities. Work in consultation with the Supported Employment (SE) team during the entire employment process for an individual with a disability.

Primary Duties

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Conduct intakes inventories and assessments with individuals to establish employment goals.
  • Provide job development services to support individuals to find employment that match career fields of interest strengths and support needs.
  • Provide post-employment services including job coaching follow-along and travel training to ensure employment retention satisfaction and growth.
  • Develop positive relationships with businesses community agencies other departments and outside vendors.
  • Complete accurate and timely monthly billing reports participant reports case notes and other supporting documentation meeting utilization expectations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform task and job-site analysis on selected sites to assure appropriate job matches.
  • Provide consultation guidance and disability awareness training to employers and business representatives.
  • Coordinate and participate in interdisciplinary team process and other meetings pertaining to participants individual support plan; prepare annual individual support plans.

Qualifications: Education Experience and Certification(s)

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Services Education Marketing or related field plus one year of related experience required OR
  • Associates Degree in Human Services Education Marketing or related field plus three years of related experience required OR
  • High School Diploma plus five years of related experience required.
  • One year (1) of education can substitute for one year of related experience. Education can not substitute the first year of required related experience.
  • One (1) year experience working with people with disabilities required if working with Medicaid Waiver recipients.
  • Valid drivers license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Availability and willingness to travel to multiple locations in the Northern Virginia area at times with little notice required.
  • Availability and willingness to work flexible hours when needed including weekends and evenings required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with the individual served and all members of their support team including referring/funding partner employer and family members. Hold team meetings as needed to ensure timely progress is being made towards goals established by the individual and their team.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maximize hours authorized by funding partner and independently prioritize the needs of each individual served.
  • A creative and charismatic self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Possess a competitive nature and a desire to achieve and exceed monthly expectations.
  • Goal oriented and independently motivated.
  • Job development or vocational support skills preferred.
  • Marketing or sales skills preferred.
  • Fluency in a second language (ASL Spanish) preferred.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
