The Emergency Department Technician provides essential clinical and clerical support under the supervision of Registered Nurses and physicians. This role supports patient care through non-invasive clinical tasks patient monitoring transport andmaintaininga clean safe and efficient care environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with RNs and the interdisciplinary care team to support individualized plans of care andoptimizepatient outcomes
  • Accurately obtain monitor and document vital signs and clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Deliver non-invasive clinical and clerical support within the Emergency Department under RN and physician direction
  • Perform EKGsassistwith patient transport and support activities of daily living while ensuring patient comfort and dignity
  • Preparemaintain and ensure proper functioning of clinical equipment and treatment areas
  • Maintain precisetimelydocumentation in the electronic health recordin accordance withregulatory standards
  • Promote a safe clean and compliant care environment following infection prevention and safety protocols
  • Effective clinical communication and strong interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced high-acuity environment with sound judgment
  • High attention to detail with strong clinical documentation practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care safety and service excellence
Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience:

  • At least one year of clinical experience-Preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Required (Upon Hire or Preferred):
    • Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) certification
      • Accepted from: Iowa Department of Public Health (IADPH) Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) or Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WI DHS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)(preferred upon hire;within 30 days)
  • Required Within 90 Days of Hire:
    • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
    • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training
    • Mandatory Reporter Training (as applicable to state of practice):
      • Child Abuse Reporting (IA and/or IL)
      • Dependent Adult Abuse Reporting (IA and/or IL)
