Additional Schedule Details: Must have availability for at least two of the lab meeting days:

  • EMC 110: TR 9:30am-12:45pm
  • EMC 110: MW 9:05 am-12:20pm
  • EMC 342: M 3:45pm-6:45pm
  • EMC 342: W 3:45pm-6:45pm

Posted Salary Grade:$16.25/hr

Job Summary/Basic Functions

This is a student worker position intended to supplement the on-campus EMT and paramedic skills laboratory classes. Qualified applicants must have the aptitude for teaching and explaining skills to students in initial certification-level courses at the EMT-Basic and/or paramedic level. Preference will be given to students who are licensed paramedics capable of assisting both levels of lab classes. This is intended for full-time undergraduate or graduate students who qualify for institutional work study.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must submit proof of NREMT and/or state-level EMT or paramedic certification.

  • Must have desire to teach/mentor students in clinical settings; preference given to those with FTO experience precepting experience and/or instructor/tutoring experience.

  • Must submit proof of current class schedule to prove eligibility to work during lab times.

  • Must be a full-time student at EKU.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Kentucky or NREMT Licensed EMT Required

  • Kentucky or NREMT Licensed Paramedic desired

Job Duties:

  • 50% - Assist current EMC 110L/EMC 342 instructors in maintaining an appropriate instructor-to-student ratio per state regulatory regulations. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Assist in maintenance and organization of EMT Basic and paramedic skills labs in various tasks as directed by faculty. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Offer available times to work with EMT/paramedic students for tutoring and mentorship. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Offer available times to work with faculty regarding academic or departmental activities and research - (Essential)
