Job Summary
Day in the Life:Join our maintenance team as an Electronics System Technician also known at LYNX as a Technician B and put your troubleshooting and repair skills to work on the technology that keeps our transit system this hands-on role you will inspect diagnose test maintain and repair a variety of electronic systems and components used on LYNX buses and support work with systems such as digital surveillance equipment destination signs two-way radios APC PLC CAD/AVL fare collection systems and other onboard electronic and electrical-control systems. Using diagnostics and testing equipment youll identify system failures perform repairs and adjustments and help ensure equipment operates safely and is a great opportunity for an electronics technician who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting problem-solving and working with a variety of electronic technologies in a fast-paced transit position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Substance Abuse Program Policy for Safety Sensitive Functions:Tests evaluates and repairs electronics for GFI Digital Surveillance Systems destination signs two-way radios and other electronic systems on board revenue buses and support scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on select electronic systems subassemblies and control devices on transit coaches and support vehicles for safe diagnoses removes and repairs electronic systems equipment and electrical theory and related knowledge to test and repair operational electrical and electrical-controlled equipment and calibrates aligns and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit higher grade technicians with Talking Bus program set up and the source of trouble. Analyzes and interprets test periodic electrical testing and recommends repairs or replacement of equipment that fails to meet acceptable operational or replaces defective parts or makes changes as testing equipment (meters oscilloscopes test bench and mock-up).Refers difficult or unusual problems to higher-grade technicians for guidance or with lower-grade technicians on difficult or unusual field repairs on road failures as up standard test apparatus or devices test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional operational environmental and live test to evaluate performance and reliability of production other duties as required or Qualifications:High School diploma or GED plus two years experience in the electronic repair field plus one year of technical school training in electronics plus one year of bench testing experience on the following equipment: Fare Collections Systems Digital Surveillance Systems Destination Sign Systems and Two-way Radio Communications Systems. An equivalent combination of related education training and experience that demonstrates the knowledge skills and ability to effectively perform the functions of this position may be considered.A degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is helpful but not to possess a Florida CDL permit Class B with passenger endorsement and airbrakes prior to successfully pass the LYNX CDL training program and obtain your Florida CDL license after Skills and Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of electronics to perform inspections diagnosis removal and repair of equipment and of testing and repairing of electronic subcomponents including but not limited to: Fare Collection System - bill transport and validator; coin validator; trim/ticket printer assembly; mother board/controller board; trim; cash box: smart card reader; System cameras assemblies; IR modules; hard drive testing. Destination Signs power supplies; processor/controller boards; flip dot controller board; -way Radio System installation and testing of radio bus Installation and testing of stand-alone and ITS talking bus of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the to drive buses trucks non-revenue vehicles and equipment into the shop line and to physically bend stoop walk kneel stretch and lift up to fifty (50) to pass a DOT physical and drug to work as a team to read electrical wiring diagrams and to communicate effectively in English both orally and in to work days nights weekends and to work in a fast-paced to work with commercial cleaners and toxic to work in open bays inside buses and inside test and repair to provide own basic tool set and possess all required tools on tool list by the end of probationary to work independently with limited to exhibit a professional courteous to work in a diverse communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with those encountered in the course of work using principles of excellent maintain a valid Florida CDL license Class B with passenger endorsement and Environment and Special Considerations:Employees in this position must comply with all requirements of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regarding the testing of safety sensitive employees.
