Electrical & Software PVT Engineer
Job Summary
In this position...
This role places you on the Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) at Fords Michigan Assembly Plant (MAP) working directly on the Bronco and Ranger programs. Youll own Electrical and Electronic module quality troubleshooting both hardware and software issues in real time. As part of Fords Product Development organization youll serve as the first line of defense for vehicle quality digging into root causes and helping continuously raise the bar on the quality of every vehicle that rolls off the line.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
Identify and deliver current model design projects with support from core and VFG leaders.
Initiate/support Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) Concerns (CR) and alerts for design changes and plant trials
Keep a clear communication channel on daily work/activities with Direct Supervisor/Peers while maintaining resilience to balance among daily/weekly new demands.
Work collaboratively with VRT counterparts at sister plant Dearborn Truck Plant for common issue identification/containment.
Lead plant trials for quality cost and supplier improvements .
Support plan in resolving stop ships/builds campaigns quality issues ergo issues & first time through (FTT)issues.
Support Daily binning meetings daily plant quality meetings biweekly VRT report outs biweekly VRT Report Outs and monthly Vehicle Quality Reviews.
Support Launch on Major and Minor programs. Utilize Diagnostic Engineering Tool (DET) and Ford Diagnosis and Service (FDRS)tool to assist vehicle triage.
Qualifications
Youll have...
- Bachelors Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
3 years of experience with quality containment and corrective action processes including root cause analysis and driving interim/permanent corrective actions. - 2 years of hands-on experience with quality and engineering systems such as GSAR JIRA BSAQ QED SREA AIMS WERS and IRIS/SIMPSN or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems.
1 years of experience using diagnostic tools such as the Diagnostic Engineering Tool (DET) and Ford Diagnosis and Service (FDRS) to support vehicle triage.

- Demonstrated ability to leverage connected vehicle telematics data Quality Early Detection (QED) feeds and dealership warranty databases to proactively identify emerging failure trends conduct technical claim binning and drive swift Interim Containment Actions (ICA) and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA).
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt with a proven track record applying rigorous Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologiessuch as 8D 3-Legged 5 Whys Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagrams and Is/Is-Not Analysisto rapidly resolve complex electrical hardware wiring and module software quality issues.
- Practical experience utilizing Ford-specific engineering release quality tracking and diagnostic systemsspecifically WERS (Concerns/Alerts) AIMS QED GSAR IRIS/SIMPSN and in-vehicle triage tools like FDRS (Ford Diagnosis & Repair System) and DET (Diagnostic Engineering Tool) or Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer).
Direct hands-on engineering experience in a high-volume automotive final assembly plant environment supporting new model launches (major/minor programs) line trials stop-ship/stop-build containment and First-Time-Through (FTT) issue resolution.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86600-$144900.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
