IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in Freeport ME to lead electrical-system design efforts for low- to moderate-complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger more complex work. You will provide engineering solutions and advice to clients while supporting analysis design and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings.
In this role you will contribute to project planning budgeting scheduling mentoring and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations. You will support commercial industrial and institutional projects while advancing high-performance energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What Youll Do
- Lead electrical-system analysis and design producing detailed designs specifications and calculations that meet code requirements and company standards.
- Work with clients to gather project requirements communicate technical information and build professional relationships.
- Support consulting-project execution through project planning budgeting and scheduling.
- Document client design decisions and instructions while monitoring design progress percent complete and fee expended.
- Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical efficient solutions.
- Conduct in-process reviews of electrical designs calculations and specifications and implement quality-control processes.
- Stay current on industry trends emerging technologies and electrical-engineering best practices contributing to research development and innovation efforts.
- Prioritize safety and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers architects and project managers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
- Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration.
What Youll Bring
Required Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
Experience
- 5 years of experience minimum required 6 preferred in the building design consulting industry
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency in design techniques tools and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory electromagnetism power systems and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings.
- Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI Elum Tools Visual Lighting or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW Easy Power or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards.
- Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link TechStreet MadCAD and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations coordination properties etc.
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word Excel and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays

State of Maine Salary Range: $72000$80000 per year
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including the candidates experience education knowledge skills abilities and licensure and certifications.
