Electrical Mechanical Engineer

Position Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate data center electrical power cooling and mechanical infrastructure supporting capacity availability and resiliency requirements.
• Produce and review one-lines load calculations short-circuit / coordination / arc-flash inputs mechanical schematics and cooling plant layouts.
• Support Assessment & Recommendation Reports across VA facilities.
• Coordinate with CFD and DCIM engineers to align electrical/mechanical decisions with thermal and telemetry realities.

Requirements

• Currently possess or be able to obtain VA Public Trust High Risk (BI High) / Tier 4 background investigation.
• Bachelors degree preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; 5 years of data center or mission-critical facility engineering experience.
• Education substitutions (per Peraton Career & Compensation Framework): Masters degree substitutes 2 years of required experience; Ph.D. substitutes 5 years of required lieu of a Bachelors degree 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable (Associates degree 2 additional years also accepted for equivalent professional levels).

Desired Skills Tools & Certifications

• Tools: AutoCAD MS Visio ETAP or SKM PowerTools (short-circuit / coordination / arc-flash) Revit MEP and BMS/DCIM telemetry (Nlyte).
• Processes: ITIL v4 service management SAFe Agile / Scrum for iterative delivery NIST 800-53 / RMF ISO 27001 TIA-942 ASHRAE TC 9.9 VA CRISP alignment NFPA 70/70E and OSHA safety practices.; NFPA 70/70E; TIA-942.
• Certifications (desirable): PE (Electrical) NFPA CESCP EPI CDCP/CDCS BICSI RCDD. / PE (Mechanical) EPI CDCP/CDCS ASHRAE Datacom certificate LEED AP. ITIL v4 Foundation (Practitioner/Managing Professional a plus) SAFe Practitioner or SAFe DevOps.
