Electrical & Instrumentation - Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
Operational:
- Supervise entry and journey-level E&I technicians and lead workers in preventative maintenance repair and installation of electrical and instrumentation apparatus
- Perform complex electrical and instrumentation/control installation repair and troubleshooting for underground infrastructure
- Oversee troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation systems control circuits process loops PIDs and associated equipment
- Supervise inspection and testing of power distribution transformers circuit breakers meters and instrumentation equipment
- Direct installations repairs modifications calibration and preventative maintenance on digital analogue and programmable equipment
- Monitor contractor work on electrical and electronic apparatus including repair replacement installation and testing
- Read interpret and direct others regarding electrical and instrumentation plans specifications blueprints wiring diagrams and schematics
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all programming testing updates and equipment maintenance
- Estimate labor and materials for electrical installations and repairs
- Maintain inventory of parts materials and supplies
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes approved plans specifications and industry standards
- Develop training and evaluation programs for entry and journey-level electrical/instrumentation personnel
- Respond to emergency situations during off-hours as required
- Prepare written and verbal reports on maintenance performance indicators and present improvement initiatives to the Maintenance Superintendent
Safety
- Ensure all tasks comply with Company health and safety requirements and strengthen the culture of safety in the workplace
- Participate in safety programs and coordinate staff training

Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand sit demonstrate manual dexterity climb stairs talk hear and see.
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment including hard hat hearing protection safety glasses safety footwear and as needed respirator rubber steel-toe boots protective clothing gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
Qualifications :
Education & Experience (One of the following required):
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Electronics Instrumentation and Control Systems or related field plus four (4) years of journey-level experience in electrical and electronic instrumentation maintenance and repair (utility/industrial applications preferred).
OR
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration Electrical Engineering Electronics Instrumentation and Control Systems or related field plus two (2) years of journey-level experience in electrical and electronic instrumentation maintenance and repair (utility/industrial applications preferred).
OR
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and eight (8) years of journey-level experience in electrical systems and electronic instrumentation installation maintenance and repair including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or four (4) years in a lead capacity (utility/industrial applications preferred).
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Five (5) years of mining electrical experience underground preferred
- Advanced Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming theory for testing troubleshooting and repairs of PLC components and data highway systems
- Principles and practices of electricity electronics pneumatics hydraulics and mechanics as applied to underground mining equipment and instruments
- Instrumentation calibration concepts and procedures
- Technical proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints schematics wiring diagrams and specifications
- Supervisory and training experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Mid-level computer operation skills including word processing spreadsheets database programs and SCADA operation
