The Pima County Elections Department will be hiring temporary employees for the following areas of the department:

Elections Aide WarehouseOverview


The Elections Aide Warehouse supports the preparation organization and distribution of election materials. This role works in a fastpaced warehouse environment and requires strong attention to detail physical stamina and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lift move and remove boxes and materials from shelves and storage bins

  • Operate delivery vehicles; safely load and unload supplies

  • Use ladders pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment daily

  • Pack supply boxes for distribution to vote centers

  • Receive store inventory and distribute election supplies

  • Collaborate with training staff to set up and break down equipment

  • Interact respectfully with the public and office personnel

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand walk bend stoop and push for extended periods

  • Ability to work in hot or cold warehouse conditions for up to 8 hours

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions with limited supervision

  • Experience working in an electionrelated warehouse environment

  • Experience performing qualitycontrol checks on supplies and materials

  • Ability to drive 16 and 24 box trucks

Elections Aide Technical Overview


The Elections Aide Technical assists with preparing testing and operating election equipment and systems. This position requires strong attention to detail proficiency with computers the ability to work long days during election periods and excellent communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare test and operate election equipment

  • Utilize computers and related equipment for ballot tabulation

  • Multitask effectively in a deadlinedriven environment

  • Proofread large quantities of ballots for accuracy of design and content

  • Read and interpret information to assist poll workers

  • Communicate clearly with supervisors coworkers and the public

  • Work both independently and as part of a team

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical & Schedule Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand walk bend stoop and push for extended periods

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Flexible schedule with availability to work long days

  • Experience with electronic poll book operations

  • Ballotondemand printing experience

  • Strong basic proofreading skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish

Must be available to work on-call as needed and work overtime for extended periods of time.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in bi-partisan teams to processes early ballots for tabulation;

  • Prepares election supplies and voting machines for delivery to poll locations;

  • Makes minor mechanical repairs on voting equipment;

  • Loads and unloads election supplies and other materials;

  • Transports and receives election ballots returns and precinct supplies;

  • Work in a bi-partisan team to troubleshoot problems on election day;

  • Provides information to voters concerning the election.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a registered voter with current registration in Pima County.

(Any equivalent combination of experience training and/or education as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment may be substituted.)

  • Experience with office practices.

  • Experience with math principles.

  • Experience with written and oral instructions and communication.

  • Experience with safety procedures for moving supplies.

  • Experience performing operator-level maintenance on assigned voting equipment.

  • Experience interpreting street guides or maps.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information:

Licenses and Certificates: Positions within the Elections Department require an Election Officer Certification & Training Program to be completed and maintained as dictated by the Arizona Secretary of States office. Failure to obtain / maintain the required certification/licensure shall be grounds for termination. Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record. (License requirement applies to all areas except Early Boards).

Special Notice: Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities records and communication County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the be available to work on-call as needed and work overtime for extended periods of time. Must be a current registered voter in Pima County. Must be 21 years of age.

Physical/Sensory Requirements: Constantly required to exchange accurate information. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery. Constantly observes details at close range. Frequently remains in a stationary position. Occasionally moves about inside an office. Occasionally moves office equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Action Activity - bending climbing kneeling reaching squatting and stooping; Motion Activity - grasping; Hearing Activity - in noisy areas and behind themselves; Speaking Activity - in person on the phone and on a cell; Vision - may be required to operate a motor vehicle distinguish colors have depth perception and peripheral vision.

Working Condition: Constantly works in an indoor environment.
