Job Summary
Lake Chelan School District has an immediate opening for a paraeducator long-term substitute. Placement will be at Morgen Owings Elementary for up to 7.5 hours a day depending on needs.
Position Overview:
This position will support multilingual learner students with English language acquisition in a variety of settings and classes at Morgen Owings Elementary.
Responsibilities include:
- Support students language development under the direction of the English Language Development Teacher
- Facilitate small groups of students for language acquisition
- Student supervision before and after school and/or at recess and lunch
- Crossing guard duties before and after school
- Ability to be comfortable with managing large and small groups of students
- Patience flexibility and self-motivation
- Ability to relate well with students parents and staff
- Good attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position
Minimum requirements include:
- Two years of college (72 quarter hours) an AA degree or have successfully passed the state Praxis test to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements
- Continuing Professional Development to maintain Paraeducator certification will be required for continuation of employment
- Washington State Patrol FBI and Sexual Misconduct clearance
- Current 1st Aid/CPR card or willingness to obtain
- Other job requirements as included in the districts Paraeducator job description
- Position is subject to temporary reassignment within the district if needed
- Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish)
Compensation:
Salary range is $22.26 - $26.13 per hour dependent upon prior school district experience in the same job classification. (An additional 75 cents per hour is available for an individual with an AA degree 1 dollar per hour for a BA degree and 25 cents per hour for 50 clock hours.)
