Job Summary
The EKG Technician
- Performs diagnostic 12-lead electrocardiograms accurately and efficiently.
- Places event monitors and Holter monitors according to department procedures.
- Processes EKGs through MUSE systems and transmits studies to cardiologists for interpretation.
- Processes patient charges and maintains appropriate documentation.
- Provides education and instruction to patients regarding event and Holter monitor placement and usage.
- Serves as a resource and assists with training staff on performance of EKG procedures.
- Assists with monitoring and recording EKGs during treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing.
- Participates in Carilion Clinic performance improvement activities.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with organizational policies and procedures.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate patient care.
- Observes documents and communicates patient information relevant to patient condition and testing procedures.
Education: High School Degree or GED. Must successfully complete a Cardiac Arrhythmia course within 8 weeks of hire.
Experience: None.
Licensure Certification and/or Registration: None required.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills required.

Compensation Range:
$17.39 - $24.35Employee pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications credentials education and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
