Pay Rate: $22$27/hr W2
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week
Contract: 6 months to start with expected extensions

We are seeking an early-career Editorial Assistant to support a fast-paced mission-driven program focused on communications with cities partners and other external stakeholders. This is a highly execution-focused communications role for someone who is an excellent writer extremely organized and comfortable managing a high volume of correspondence and competing person will own a shared program inbox draft and edit professional communications support meetings and follow-ups coordinate multilingual content and translations and assist with newsletters guides presentations and other program materials.
Job Summary:
- Own and manage a high-volume program inbox receiving approximately 120 messages per week ensuring timely and professional responses
- Draft responses to external stakeholders and determine when questions should be escalated to senior team members
- Write and edit internal communications executive emails talking points announcements newsletters stakeholder communications and press release-style content
- Support standing meetings by helping prepare agendas taking detailed notes documenting action items and tracking follow-ups
- Coordinate translation workflows for materials in Spanish French and Portuguese including working with translation vendors and tracking deadlines
- Assist with drafting and formatting a bi-weekly newsletter and other program communications
- Develop and update written guides how-to documents webinar slides run-of-show documents and other informational materials
- Upload and maintain website content to ensure materials remain accurate organized and current
- Assist with basic video editing for short instructional or informational content as needed
- Work closely with senior communications and program team members while independently managing day-to-day deliverables
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required ideally in Communications Journalism English Public Relations or a related field
- Approximately 13 years of professional communications experience
- Excellent professional writing editing grammar and proofreading skills
- Experience drafting communications such as internal communications executive emails talking points newsletters announcements press releases or stakeholder-facing materials
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple deadlines follow-ups and competing priorities
- Comfortable managing a shared or high-volume inbox and communicating directly with external stakeholders
- Experience supporting meetings through agendas note-taking action items and follow-through
- Able to work independently exercise good judgment and recognize when an issue should be escalated
- Professional writing samples are required
- Must be able to work onsite in Baltimore MD on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nonprofit higher education city/local government or another mission-driven environment
- Background in internal executive or stakeholder communications rather than traditional marketing
- Proficiency in Spanish French or Portuguese
- Basic video editing experience such as iMovie or similar software
