Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Product Development Engineering Co-Op to join our ECP Product Development Team located in Danvers MA.

This is a highly hands-on opportunity focused on designing building and evaluating medical device components test fixtures and engineering concepts. The co-op may be expected to contribute to:

  • Planning and executing hands-on bench testing including feasibility characterization simulated-use and design verification testing of medical device components and systems.

  • Developing and improving test methods by defining procedures selecting equipment designing fixtures troubleshooting setups and assessing measurement repeatability and robustness.

  • Creating and iterating mechanical designs for product components prototypes and test fixtures using 3D CAD; support prototype fabrication through 3D printing machining or other rapid-prototyping methods.

  • Collecting analyzing and interpreting test data; summarize results identify trends or failure modes and present conclusions and recommendations to the engineering team.

  • Supporting root cause investigations and design improvements through structured experimentation inspection and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Documenting test procedures experimental results design work and engineering conclusions in clear technical reports and presentations while collaborating with Product Development Quality Regulatory Manufacturing and other partners.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and enthusiasm for hands-on laboratory work building test setups and troubleshooting hardware.

  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical design engineering mechanics experimental methods and data analysis with the ability to apply classroom concepts to practical engineering problems.

  • Experience with 3D CAD software; SOLIDWORKS is preferred.

  • Ability to organize and analyze data using tools such as Microsoft Excel; experience with statistical analysis software is a plus.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments while working both independently and collaboratively.

  • Prior experience with prototyping machining 3D printing laboratory testing test method development or medical device projects is preferred but not required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$23.50/hr to $52.50/hr

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidates program year discipline degree and/or -Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the -Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington up to 56 hours per calendar -Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Companys consolidated retirement plan (pension).
