Position Summary

Open to Special Education Teachers and Licensed Related Service Providers

Special Education Teachers (ZS/ZN) and Licensed Providers (SLP OT PT SSW) Encouraged to Apply

Job Summary:

The Early Intervention Specialist for Early On provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to age three) and their caregivers as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position is open to qualified special education teachers and related service providers (e.g. speech-language pathologists occupational therapists physical therapists social workers).

Services are delivered using a Primary Service Provider and coaching model to support caregiver capacity to address developmental needs within daily routines. Services are provided in natural environments including homes childcare and community settings in accordance with Michigan Early On and IDEA Part C requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
Essential Duties (May include but not limited to):

1. Participates in multidisciplinary evaluations and eligibility determination for Early On services.

2. Assists in the development implementation and review of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).

3. Provides early intervention services as specified in the IFSP.

4. Collaborate with families to identify priorities concerns and outcomes.

5. Provides coaching and consultation to caregivers to support implementation of strategies within daily routines.

6. Conducts ongoing assessment and documents child progress in accordance with program requirements.

7. Interprets evaluation and assessment results for families and team members.

8. Maintains required documentation and service records in compliance with state and federal regulations.

9. Collaborates with team members and community partners to support coordinated service delivery.

10. Participate in transition planning for children exiting Early On services.

11. Demonstrates knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers.

12. Complies with applicable state and federal regulations including IDEA Part C and Michigan Early On requirements.

13. Perform duties consistent with district policies procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Other Duties:

Ability to work effectively with young children and families in home childcare or community settings. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members. Ability to maintain required documentation and utilize district technology systems. Ability to travel between service locations. Regular attendance and punctuality are required. Ability to participate in professional development related to essential duties. Demonstrated physical and mental ability and stamina for the job. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a balanced year-round calendar. Demonstrate honesty integrity and professionalism at all times. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines with minimum supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

Candidates must meet Michigan Early On provider requirements through one of the following:

Special Education Teachers:
-Bachelors or Masters Degree and Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate Early Childhood Special Education endorsement (ZS or ZN) or willing to obtain.

OR

Related Service Providers:

-Current valid Michigan licensure in an approved discipline including:

Speech-Language Pathology: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred

Occupational Therapy: Bachelors or Masters Degree with current Michigan licensure as an Occupational Therapist

Physical Therapy: Masters or Doctorate Degree with Current Michigan licensure as a Physical Therapist

Social Work: Masters Degree of Social Work and valid or eligible for School Social Worker approval from MDE (PSWC). Current Michigan licensure as a Social Worker (LMSW or LLMSW)

Other approved related field:
Current Michigan licensure or approval consistent with Early On provider requirements

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range:

  • $48446 - $94537

Work Schedule: 186 days / 7 hours daily

Paid Time Off:

  • Sick and Personal Business paid time up to 13 days
  • Bereavement Leave
