Dispatcher Logistics Coordinator

The Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator serves as the central hub for transportation activities ensuring efficient safe and ontime movement of freight across trucking and rail networks. This role combines realtime dispatching route planning and customer communication to support reliable service delivery.

• Monitor and coordinate daily movement of trucks and railcars making realtime dispatch decisions.
• Plan optimal routes using routing software considering load size delivery windows traffic weather and regulatory restrictions.
• Maintain constant communication with drivers train crews and customers to provide status updates and resolve issues promptly.
• Track shipments via GPS and TMS updating system records and notifying stakeholders of any delays or exceptions.
• Generate and distribute daily manifests bills of lading and other required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with DOT FMCSA and railroad regulations including hoursofservice (HOS) and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the warehouse team to schedule pickups and deliveries optimizing load consolidation and dock usage.
• Respond to emergency situations such as accidents or equipment failures and coordinate appropriate response actions.
• Perform routine analysis of dispatch performance metrics and suggest process improvements.
• Assist with training new dispatch staff and drivers on procedures and technology platforms.

• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree in logistics supply chain or related field preferred.
• Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) or Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is a plus.
• Proficiency with dispatch and transportation management software (e.g. TMS WMS GPS tracking platforms).
• Strong understanding of trucking and railroad operations including load planning and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask prioritize urgent issues and maintain composure under pressure.
• Basic math and analytical skills for load calculations and performance reporting.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as required by operational demand.

• 2 years of experience in dispatch logistics coordination or transportation operations.
• Prior experience with both trucking and rail logistics is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting delivery performance targets and improving routing efficiency.
• Experience using electronic logging devices (ELDs) and familiarity with FMCSA regulations.
