Dispatch Supervisor (Technician V )

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily staffing and scheduling operations including processing leave requests adjusting schedules updating timesheets and providing operational coverage during staffing shortages

• Monitor dispatch operations and review Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) entries records and database activity to ensure accuracy completeness and compliance with departmental procedures and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) standards

• Oversee Colorado and National Crime Information Center (CCIC/NCIC) queries entries and cancellations to ensure compliance with applicable laws policies and protocols

• Provide employee coaching mentoring and performance management through regular feedback quality assurance reviews performance evaluations corrective actions and development planning

• Develop coordinate and deliver training for dispatch personnel including CAD RMS CCIC/NCIC systems emergency notification systems security and monitoring platforms and operational procedures

• Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies procedures training programs drills and scenario-based exercises including participation in campus-wide emergency preparedness initiatives

As a Dispatcher you play a key role along with our officers in keeping the campus safe. Youll take calls from the public dispatch officers to incidents and monitor alarms and cameras. While you must be prepared for any emergency we dont experience high call volumes. You have the time to develop relationships with colleagues in our tight-knit department. Qualifications:

Please make sure to include the following in your resume: job title duties months and years employed and average hours worked per week as minimum experience is calculated on a 40 hour/week basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Five (5) or more years of experience in police radio/telephone communications equipment operations including police radio/telephone communications equipment operations.

• Two (2) years of experience must be at a work lead or equivalent level in police radio/telephone communications equipment operations.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate or higher-level degree (Transcripts May Be Required Upon an Offer of Employment. Applicants reserve the right to redact any information that could reveal their age date of birth or dates of school attendance or graduation pursuant to Colorado Job Application Fairness Act)

• Two (2) years or more as work lead within the University of Colorado Anschutz Police Department Communications Center.

• Previous experience as a Police Dispatch Supervisor

• Current Communication Training Officer (CTO) certification

• Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) or other recognized leadership coursework through the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials-International (APCO) or National Emergency Number Association (NENA)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $5791 $7475 per month ($69503 - $89700 per year).

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class series as this position your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1 2024.
