Director, Operations Improvement Refineries

The Director of Operations will oversee the waste processing operations and collection/transportation portions of the business in specified facilities. Safety and compliance will be a priority and the Director of Operations will be accountable to oversee all aspects of EH&S. They will ensure all employees are performing to the company policies and procedures and the appropriate laws that govern them. The Director of Operations will act as a liaison between sites providing direction to the Site Operations Managers to best manage the day-to-day operations of the sites and to ensure that the sites optimize operations in a way that yields the most effective and efficient operation. The Director of Operations will oversee and provide leadership to the sites. Develop and review routes and budgets to company standards. Direct all supervisors and employees as needed. The Director of Operations will be responsible to review the P&Ls assist in budgeting and liaise with the RVP regarding critical matters.

Key Responsibilities:Responsible for overseeing and optimization of the operations and functionality of the assigned sites while promoting safety sanitation and security through ensuring that all awareness programs meetings inspections and preventative measures required have been completed on and analyze complex information and data. Develop strategic plans to further GFL Operational interests and ability to grow very busy and dynamic sites. Capable of quickly establishing credibility influencing constituencies and persuading professionals at all be a self-motivated contributing team member. Strong cost center management experience as part of their respective operational responsibilities and have a solid track record in providing positive understanding of Regulations impacting the various sites and operations complete reporting on time experience dealing with the local officals if required to do multiple projects in a fast-paced designated financial human and physical resources of the Division in a collaborative and manage conflict; mediate disputes; assist in reaching the financial human and physical resources of the assigned sites in alignment with GFLs vision and values and in accordance with the annual Business Plan with a strong focus on Profit & Loss activities. Provide overall direction and co-ordination of all employees under his/her jurisdiction including hiring training managing performance promotion and discipline and recommendations for discharge in accordance with policy and guidance and direction to GFL Operations staff about waste processing and disposal policies procedures and regulations. Responsible to oversee and guide Industrial waste processing and disposal operations at multiple sites in a way that increases flexibility of the sites and reduces bottlenecks and inefficiencies. High level of collaboration and interaction with outside sales force. Demonstrated skills in managing and developing personnel. Strong leadership skills leading people in a functional for guiding and supporting the Site Operations Managers in the preparation and oversight of tenders/quotations and reports for operating security and maintenance works including design setting specifications preparing cost estimates project management and short- and long-term goals and operating procedures to achieve/maintain on-going compliance of waste processing. Aligns individual performance goals and measures systematically and consistently uses them to drive performance. Strong results orientation and a tireless work ethic with the emotional intelligence to know when to push harder and when to look for alternative analytical and strategic skills. Good business judgment and problem-solving skills with solid economic industry and competitive landscape be able to work efficiently and independently as well as can direct other team members to complete the larger project. Must be willing to commit the necessary time and effort to complete work assignments and do a quality job. Demonstrates the ability to present ideas and information in a clear concise organized and diplomatic manner; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas and questions. Demonstrates ability to manage own time and schedule to get work accomplished and meet customer duties as assignedKnowledge Skills Abilities and Competencies:Diploma or Degree in business or equivalent work experience 5 years in an Operations Manager or Supervisor Contacts: This position will have a wide range of contact with all levels of employees from hourly staff to the Divisional Executive Aid training and strong knowledge in operation of waste and strong knowledge of operation of all company knowledge of Highway traffic act and Safety record in management of operations at waste processing sites in a safe and efficient using MS Word Excel OMS.
